For our return trip to NL booked 1 night at Radisson Hotel in San Jose. A big hotel, about 30 minutes walk from the center. Located on the main roads of San Jose, easy as a starting point to airport. An Uber taxi will take you from the hotel to the city centre in 5-7 minutes for €3-4. Very easy here in San Jose. Large hotel with lots of rooms, also used for companies conducting their business activities here. Friendly reception at the reception. Room is large and clean with two large single beds. Hotel is a bit dated in terms of rooms and appearance. But otherwise fine, with pool. Pool has a whirlpool, which makes a lot of noise. Our room was near pool, the sound of the wirlpool was constantly audible. You can chill out by pool, remote bar. Bathroom neat, also somewhat outdated. No hair dryer available. Should have been there, according to reception. Was quickly delivered to the room. Breakfast in itself fine, bread is always a little problem in Costa Rica. Usually sweet toast bread. Furthermore, basically everything you can expect from a breakfast. WIFI is a bit slow, but available throughout the hotel. Large parking lot. The hotel is extremely noisy due to concrete walls and tiles in the hallways. We wanted a late departure from hotel, was unfortunately not possible because the hotel was fully booked. We could continue to use the facilities. We could change later in the toilets. Was fine in itself.

Stayed here for 2 nights at start of tour of Costa Rica and returned for 1 night at end of tour. The hotel is quite large and bit of a maze inside but we couldn't fault it. Rooms are very clean and beds so comfortable. Best bathrooms and showers of whole trip! Staff Very friendly and meals excellent. Big thanks especially to Alonso who always ensured my coffee was topped up at breakfast. Always had a smile on his face too. Breakfast omelette freshly made individually and were delicious. The outside area where pool was situated was well kept and considering the hotel is basically a massive concrete construction you wouldn't really notice as so many beautiful trees and plants out there. Great outside bar near pool too. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Thankyou to all staff.

This hotel can best be described as a transit hotel and my view as such is that more attention is given to resort hotels. This one is beginning to look tired, the outside stonework is in need of cleaning. Inside in our room we could not get the air conditioning to work so it was constantly chilly, the water did not drain away in the washbasin and in places the wallpaper was in need of attention. Regarding service this was hit and miss. We asked for Cortado coffees and received a blank look as the guy didn't know what they were and this is in a country that grows coffee. Once I had described it they had a go but delivered an espresso coffee with milk on the side. In the room we were only given one cup for coffee even though there 2 of us and the bottled water was not replaced on the 2nd day. Breakfast was a disappointment given this was an international hotel, what hotel doesn't have sausages and bacon and a freshly cooked egg station. It was annoying to see the chef and some of his colleagues sit down in the breakfast area with fried eggs !!. I did however enjoy the plantain. My biggest disappointment is with the noise. On booking in I asked if the allocated room was quiet and was assured it was. Well I would like someone from management to sleep in room 2021. It overlooks the pool which was being used by a group of rowdy teenagers well past 8.40pm when the pool should not be used after 8.00pm. Who supervises this?. We had flown in after a long flight and this was not appreciated In addition we could hear everything that happened next door right through the night. As a result I am now very tired and this probably has given me less tolerance to the other issues. We have stayed in Radisson Hotels in the past and this one is sadly lacking. Due to our holiday tour arrangements already set we will be returning here in a couple of weeks time. I will not be returning with the same enthusiasm I had a couple of days ago. This is such a shame as it has been our first experience of Costa Rica and it looks like it will also be our last due to the pre-arranged booking.

Ok so there’s not loads to do in San Jose but it’s mainly a stopping off point before going elsewhere and you usually have to stay somewhere before heading off. The Radisson Blu is a great option for this. Yes it’s not the prettiest hotel ever esp from the outside (brutalist concrete architecture) but they’ve improved this with great tropical planting at the front entrance and around the pools. The rooms are spacious and clean with working air con (a must in CR!) and the shower was powerful and warm. For reasons unknown the loos seem very low down though! The breakfast was good - a good range of hot and cold options plus regular top ups of coffee and a nice spot if you can get a table outside. The pool area is nice - you’ve a choice of two different pools and one has a lively warm water jacuzzi - perfect for relaxing after a long days travelling. Loungers are functioning and clean and there’s an outdoor bar (some of the time) so it’s easy to catch some sun and have a drink without having to traipse inside. And if you do want to head into San Hose to see what’s there, it’s only a 15 min safe walk into town. Mostly a straight road (though with some inclines) there and back and with pavements. Overall a great hotel if you’re passing through and don’t have long to spent in the capital.

Great hotel on the outskirts. It has become outdated. It would be necessary to remodel the façade, carpets and furniture in the rooms and the bathtubs as well as the taps. There is no mini bar. The pool is phenomenal and the jacuzzi is warm. The copious breakfast. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and everything was delicious. Dinner entertained by a wonderful singer. The snack they offer at the bar is worth it, there are copious burgers and club sandwiches. The personnel is very friendly.

The Radisson San Jose was great. The staff was friendly and very helpful, and the room was clean and spacious. I was able to buy a SIM card for my phone right in the lobby (although this guy could have been a little more free with information). The breakfast buffet had many options and was very tasty. The hotel is not directly in the city center, but the 15-minute daytime walk is okay. You will need your phone's GPS as San Jose is known for not having street signs to tell you where you are. It's also easy and inexpensive to use a ride-sharing service to get around (and you will be cautioned against walking alone at night). As long as you don't need to have the city center right outside the door, I highly recommend this hotel.

An older partially refurbished hotel, some parts are worn out. Large rooms, high ceilings, AC, no fridge in the room, ice distributors on the floor, sufficient amenities in the bathroom, metallic wardrobe, coffee machine, no news channel on the tv. Large gym, plus a small gym with small sauna on 4th floor. Outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Restaurant is outstanding (though wines are rather expensive). Breakfast is ok: hot dishes (gallo pinto plus eggs and two different sides each day) and cold cuts. Staff are friendly. There is a foodtruck on the parking premises with a local menu. There is a Walmart a twenty minutes walk away. The neighbourhood is not very reassurnig: some offices and that's it. Nothing nearby. Don't go walk around at night. You can walk to downtown (a good half hour walk) or take a cab. Don't take a room from numbers x001 to x0010, because they are near a highway that can be very noisy at night.

I stayed at the Radisson before and after a Gadventures trip and the staff were great! I forgot my AirPods in my room when we left for the trip, and they found them and kept them for me until I came back, they also let me store my luggage whilst I was away on the trip. Edgar and the reception team (in particular the male staff whose name unfortunately I can’t remember), were all super helpful! Definitely recommend if you want a nice place to stay in San Jose.

I was completely surprised by the architecture and small touches everywhere. This is the best Radisson I’ve ever seen, and one of the top chain hotels I’ve stayed at in my 30+ years of traveling. I would stay here again, but recommend upgrading the room. Our standard room had a bit of a musty smell, but it was probably the carpet. The desk person did say the other rooms had updated carpet and such.

Hi, yes, saw some who had drinks, beer, etc. but it is you who must go and buy / pick these up inside the facility. There was no bar right by the pool.
The pool to be added is not temperate, so there is cold water in. In addition further up by the pool, different birds bathe etc. the same water then goes down to the main pool, not 100% fresh.
But I still have to point out that the quality of the food was very good. as well as staff service also without anything negative to add. Hope it helps. Have a good trip otherwise.
There are more places to choose from in the San Jose area.
