We stayed here last time we went to Costa Rica and loved it. They have redone it so a bit of the charm is gone, but still very nice. In the middle of the city, it is so peaceful and quiet, it was perfect. That part we loved. The staff is amazingly nice and helpful. The restaurant is expensive, but...

My husband and I enjoyed a one night stay at the start of our recent CR trip. It was our first time in San Jose, but our 5 th in the country. I rate this hotel 4 stars for it's overall atmosphere, spacious rooms, good bed and clean bathroom. The restaurant was also excellent, though the food is quite rich!...

This hotel is just a gem sitting in San Jose. We enjoyed a deluxe room overlooking the garden. The room was spacious and nicely appointed. Other rooms on the same floor were standard and smaller. The hotel is a terrific restaurant, arguably the 1st or 2nd rated restaurant in all of San Jose. The service was excellent as was the...

Sure the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, but good service isn't everything. The hotel is located in an ugly neighborhood. I took a walk around the block, and all I saw was iron fences and barbed wire. The hotel looks very out of place. The inside is very charming, and has a B&B feel to it. My room...

My husband and I spent 2 nights in the "Vista de Oro Suite" at the Hotel Grano d’ Oro in late December 2012. The room was lovely, at the top of the hotel, with many windows and views over the city to the mountains beyond. The hotel is in a suburb of San Jose and is a handsome, beautifully decorated...

The area surrounding the hotel is "authentic" San Jose showing the city's gritty character but the Hotel Grano de Oro is a welcome oasis. There is a lot to recommend about this place: the inviting lobby, a beautifully appointed restaurant serving good food, the tropical-plant filled corridors and hot-tub area, the charming and clean rooms, and even a quaint little...

This was our second stay at the Grano de Oro. It is like an oasis of tranquility after a long trip. This time we stayed both on arrival and before our departure from Costa Rica. The hotel arranged our pick up from the airport and other transfers to and from the airport, all flawless operations. The reception and other staff...

We stayed one nite in this very pretty, downtown San Jose hotel. It's unique colonial design and old world charm was delightful. We had breakfast in the courtyard and the food, service and atmosphere was lovely. This would be a wonderful place to have a small wedding. Each room is distinctive and full of character. Staff spoke English very well....

Fourth stay at this hotel over the last 5 years and it just keeps getting better. The staff are fantastic. The hotel is charming with lots of beautiful character. Very well appointed rooms. Best restaurant in Costa Rica. Great experience, great value. Highly recommended!

Quite a nice hotel for Costa Rican standards. Was not impressed with the service at the reception. The staff seemed dull and uninterested. We asked for a late checkout, and they only provided one after we persisted. Breakfast was nice, but again the staff seemed dull and uninterested. The room, however, was wonderful. Excellent bed! Excellent shower!
