Very nice and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. They were the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and had a good stay. Every question was answered and each request was met with a friendly smile. We were very pleased. The two Sylvias that work there are incredible.
Welcoming, clean, bright, comfortable & relaxed are all words that come to mind when I think of our stay at La Sabana Hotel! We enjoyed the location, being out of the city of San Jose - but close enough to walk into town if we wanted. The La Sabana park is very close & a safe park to explore. There are restaurants & shops a quick walking distance as well. If we make it back to San Jose, my husband and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
+ exceptional staff, always friendly and helpful + the best breakfast I had during my stay in Costa Rica + clean hotel with a small pool + in a quiet neighborhood with retaurants in walking distance + parking inside the premises - wifi is free but the reception was rather poor - rooms are rather basic with a small bed ( but with a small kitchen)
This hotel has very friendly and welcoming staff. The room is basic and the shower is the reason it didn’t get 5 stars from me. The air con is also very noisy but no real need for it due to it being November. Rooms were very clean. Hotel has lots of recycle bins. The breakfast was nice and included in the price. The waiter was very helpful. There is a sauna but we didn’t use it. The pool is nice, decent size. Close to La Sabana park and walking distance to restaurants and the shopping areas.
This is a nice little quaint hotel that has been updated and is clean and cozy. The service is excellent. We had an issue with the enervations through Expedia and the hotel staff took the ball and got it corrected. They also arranged to have someone come to the room and do COVID test.
We've stayed at La Sabana several times since the 2010s because, due to flight schedules, we often need to spend our first night in San Jose before we venture over to the Caribbean side of the country. La Sabana is consistency friendly, clean, comfortable and a great value. And we have always felt very safe there, day and night. The breakfast that comes with the room is awesome. The staff goes out of their way to be helpful. They have a lovely pool area. You'd never know you were in the middle of a capital city. If you stay here, there is an excellent Italian restaurant just a few steps down the street - Pasta Pronto. Don't be deceived by its outside appearance - it's delicious.
This place was very nice and super friendly. I loved the breakfast and the people that worked there. Everyone was very welcoming and spoke English very well. I would definitely go back and stay longer to enjoy the pool, spa and food more because I loved it all.
An excellent place to stay in San Jose. While the location is a ~3km walk to the centre of San Jose, it is a cheap Uber ride (< $6) to any of the main sights. The benefit is the hotel is in a very quiet location. Close to a lovely park. Rooms were clean, comfortable, modest. The pool / courtyard is a nice place to relax. Staff was excellent and very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast was also very good and the ladies working / serving were efficient and friendly as well. The price is also fantastic value. Would definitely stay again!
La Sabana is a small comfortable hotel with some visual charm and character and very helpful staff. No luxuries, other than the small pool in the courtyard. A restaurant on-site for breakfast only (and room service later). Other restaurants scattered about the neighbourhood (north side of La Sabana park) if you look around for them (Spanish, Chinese, Italian, fried chicken, Peruvian, panini, Korean/Japanese). Our first room (Standard, C2) was tight for 2 separate beds. Might be okay with a single bed. The helpful staff moved us to a studio apartment (1 bed and kitchen) as soon as it became available. Ours had a walk-in shower as I use crutches. As a larger room, it costs more but the hotel did not charge for the upgrade. We appreciate the consideration very much! The helpful staff also arranged covid tests for us in the hotel, that we needed before boarding our return flight. Very convenient and a reasonable cost. (Hopefully these requirements will soon end.) The second floor is accessible only by stairs; no elevator. That's hard to fix, but they could easily improve access to the ground level. There are 4 stairs to the front entrance and 2 more to the back unit across the courtyard. (See photos.) La Sabana! Build a ramp! So easy! You have ample room. Overall, we highly recommend La Sabana if you want a quiet refuge and don't need the luxuries of a resort or full-service (and more expensive) hotel.…
Lovely hotel in Sabana which is only 15' by car from the center of San Jose. Very friendly staff, delicious breakfast, clean rooms and comfortable beds as well as a very nice pool area! The food provided was, in general, very good. I will definitely come back!
