Detailed Reviews
Stayed at Hotel Autentico on both sides of our trip. When we arrived it was an easy Taxie drive from the airport and then at the end of our trip we stayed there before returning to the airport.
The rooms are clean and roomy. The staff was always in masks and there are hand sanitizing stations everywhere. The staff was fantastic, always making sure we had everything we needed. There is a dining room in the hotel that overlooks the pool with tables out by the pool. The food is good and the staff again was very pleasant. Would recommend for anyone that is coming in and out of San Jose.

Stayed for two separate nights during our transit in and out of SJO. Rooms are basic at best (and that’s being generous). Both the rooms that we stayed in were dark, dingy and smelt of dampness. The bathroom fixtures were broken and very worn out. For a three start hotel (debatable) I would expect them to have sealed water bottles in the room and a mini fridge. Since we checked out of the hotel quite early on both occasions, we didn’t have our breakfast so can’t comment on their food.
If you really don’t mind staying out for a couple of hours until your next departure, this might work for you. Definitely don’t recommend this for more than a night

I stayed here with a friend for 2 nights at the beginning of a tour and then for 1 night at the end of the tour before flying back to the US. Our room was clean, beds were comfortable and everything we needed was provided. I appreciated that there was a coffee maker in the room for late night tea or very early morning coffee. There are also water-filling stations at several spots in the hotel.
Location: The hotel is about 25 min to the airport (less during very early morning). It is walkable (~15 min) to downtown San Jose where you can find Mercado Central. There is also a supermarket about 2 blocks from the hotel. However, don't expect great views around you. The hotel seems like a good starting point if you want to explore San Jose.
Breakfast: Our room rate did not include the free breakfast and we paid about 12 US$. There was a good selection of dishes including scrambled eggs, gallo pinto (rice and beans), sausages and fresh fruit.
The check in and check out processes were simple and efficient. I recommend this hotel.

Upon arriving early I was made to wait until the exact check in time which was fine but I was then told I would have to wait longer as my room still wasn’t ready. After finally entering the room I noticed there was no water provided and when I questioned this the lady at reception asked my room number and then without looking just assumed water wasn’t included and I was required to pay. Upon getting into bed later that night I noticed the sheets were stained and then blanket provided was also dirty after notifying reception they arranged for house keeping to change the sheets however the new set wasn’t much better. Very disappointing experience and I would certainly not recommend or return.

G Adventures chose this as the starting and ending of our 9-day tour and we were beautifully-surprised. We enjoyed the 20-minute walk to the city's center but Uber is quick and inexpensive. The hotel is great, not the neighborhood, so you do need to plan if you want to get out. But it is a very good ending or starting location if you are visiting Costa Rica. Staff were wonderful and helpful 👍

The staff are very great and could speak English with ease. The rooms were spacious clean and professional. The waiting staff were great and the prices for food were not to bad, would recommend to anyone staying in San Jose.

I was traveling with Overseas Adventure Travel. We were to stay here on the first night as our tour began, and then again for two nights at the conclusion. Partway through our travels I contracted Covid and was sent back here to quarantine for a week. I was given a secluded room and all my food was left outside my door when I called for room service. The staff were as sweet and accommodating as could be. Waiter Elton was especially friendly. Raquel at the front desk was super helpful to me when I was finally freed and had a day to go sightseeing. She taught me how to use Uber and helped me to translate and understand the activity information. Maybe it was because I had to eat many many meals here, but I did not think that the food was very good. Sometimes it was simply over cooked. There was always delicious fresh fruit to choose from. it is about a 2 mile trip from this hotel to the national theater and museums which I believe they referred to as a Cultural District. I would not feel comfortable walking it at night. Compared to the other places I've seen in Costa Rica, San Jose is less clean and feels less safe. It is quite crowded!

Stayed here for two nights as part of a tour of Costa Rica. The room was pleasant enough with two single beds. The rooms were clean. Breakfast was pleasant enough with staff serving behind Perspex. There was fresh fruit, rice and beans, stews scrambled eggs and some kind of bread pudding. Didn’t use the small pool. Staff were very pleasant. Food was ok. I had rice and fish with salad which for about £16 was reasonably priced as CR is not a cheap place to eat.

This was our first stop in Costa Rica and we knew it wasn't the best area of San Jose (so if you go out book a taxis especially at night). Reception were friendly and helpful and we were quickly settled into our room 110 on ground floor (looking into the middle of the court yard area (away from any road noise).
Room was basic but had everything we needed, shower was good, bottled water in room and bed was comfy.
We ate the first night in the hotel and the food was fine (see pic), plenty of choice. Ignore their website re meal times as evening meals were available (6.30 to 9pm).
Breakfast was a standard CR offering but was fine and reasonable options. I believe it started at 6.30am? We got a takeaway breakfast on 2nd day as we left at 6am which was fine.
Good stay overall and the hotel did everything you could have expected of them.

For a low cost hotel, we enjoyed this place thoroughly. The room was spacious and clean. The pool area was great for relaxing, although the pool was not well heated. Breakfast was fine. We paid extra to have lunch and dinner as well, and the food was good, although the wait staff did not always understand what the offer included. A negative is that there were no other restaurants close by. However, we could take an Uber for little cost to a great nearby restaurant, Aqui Es.

When we arrived the pool was being filled. The next morning a worker was doing through cleaning job. Pool was available.
Dear guest
We have laundry service in our hotel. You can check in at the reception.
Best regards
As I remember the times are pretty standard....check in at 3pm and checkout at 11am. We were there early and the desk staff was happy to put our luggage in a locked room so that we could look around San Jose and not worry about our bags.
I don't remember there being one in either of the rooms we used - but then I didn't need one so wasn't looking for it. Other answers seem better informed
