I found this hotel from another app while on my recent trip to Costa Rica. The hotel is located in the heart of San Jose and has several sight seeing areas within walking distance. The hotel staffs were professional and very helpful. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

I arrived at the Auténtico hotel on February 4. I reserved a suite with two queen size beds. I was given a room with one queen size bed for the same price. I had no air conditioning for the first 3 days. For four days construction was being done in the room next door from 7am. When I spoke to the front desk they were extremely rude and told me that hotels all over the world do construction. This morning I asked if there was a mall nearby and could they help me get an Uber. When I got to the mall it turned out it did not open for two hours. I have traveled all over the world and never been treated like this. During my stay I contacted the front desk every day, my dentist, the US Embassy, multiple consumer protection agencies and my credit card company. Today I called the hotel to see if there had been any resolution and he hung up on me. I am not in the business of giving up.

I stayed here with a friend for 2 nights at the beginning of a tour and then for 1 night at the end of the tour before flying back to the US. Our room was clean, beds were comfortable and everything we needed was provided. I appreciated that there was a coffee maker in the room for late night tea or very early morning coffee. There are also water-filling stations at several spots in the hotel. Location: The hotel is about 25 min to the airport (less during very early morning). It is walkable (~15 min) to downtown San Jose where you can find Mercado Central. There is also a supermarket about 2 blocks from the hotel. However, don't expect great views around you. The hotel seems like a good starting point if you want to explore San Jose. Breakfast: Our room rate did not include the free breakfast and we paid about 12 US$. There was a good selection of dishes including scrambled eggs, gallo pinto (rice and beans), sausages and fresh fruit. The check in and check out processes were simple and efficient. I recommend this hotel.

The hotel is very far from town with nothing nearby. If you stay here you have to take a cab/Uber or you have to eat at the restaurant at the hotel or walk a long way to get to anything. The walk also takes you through one of the worst/unsafe neighborhoods- Coca-Cola so highly recommend not walking. It’s also very very noisy with all the streetlights flooding the room and with NO blackout CURTAINS to reduce the light. You can hear cars or the worst is motorcycles with their loud motors all night long! Bring Mack’s earplugs if you plan on staying here - you will need them.they give you a pair of useless earplugs that hurt your ears - that should tell you enough. Bring Mack’s if you’re staying here. The room I stayed in was very cold at night. I turned off the ac and was still freezing and they didn’t even have an extra blanket in the room. The bathroom was another story. I bumped myself so many times in the bathroom because it was so small and I bruised myself by all over. Literally, the bathroom is smaller than the bathroom in any Manhattan (NYC) apartment!

This is a great hotel for people staying in San Jose. It feels so welcoming when you enter and the staff are lovely. The restaurant is fantastic with a wide range of options. I was upgraded to a suite which was so spacious. It is a little while outside of the main attractions in San Jose but there are bus routes and Ubers are easy to get. It is close to the art gallery and park.

This is a very good hotel for your first Costa Rican pura vida experience. The hotel is located just outside the city center (20 mins walk) and is easy to reach from the airport (20 min drive). The hotel has simple but spacy rooms. The beds were good and the bath room was also ok. Our room was located on the 2nd floor next to a technical room which gave quite some noise (luckily the noise stopped from late evening to early morning). The biggest advantages of the hotel are its nice outside pool (with comfy relax chairs), its very friendly staff, and its good restaurant (breakfast buffet and dinner were both splendid, service was perfect). After two good nights, we had an early morning check-out (6 am) but fresh coffee and lunch package helped us to cope with the jetlag and start the day!

I stayed in this hotel for 1 night, last minute. Arriving at 9pm in a flustered state. The receptionist was great, and patiente with me. This is a theame with this hotel, the amazing staff. The room itself was clean, good size and has everything you need. The bathroom was also OK, however the showered head did seem a little old but no issues. The pool and restaurant in this hotel is simply 5 star and wouldn't look out of place in a 5 star dubai hotel. The food was great, and once again the staff in the bar amazing. Overall a good clean hotel with the staff making it amazing. Got to shout out to Raquel from reception who checked me out, she was once again very friendly and even noticed it was my birthday and wished me happy birthday! Great asset to the hotel

I am appalled by their tourist unfriendly attitide. They took my money telling me i could change the dates then changed their policy conveniently once the hotel was full. To this day the manager wont take my call or respond to all my emails. All good until something goes wrong. I would shudder to think what they would do in an emergency. Maybe sometime a chain is actually better, they care about their reputation if not for their guests.

Stayed here for two nights as part of a tour of Costa Rica. The room was pleasant enough with two single beds. The rooms were clean. Breakfast was pleasant enough with staff serving behind Perspex. There was fresh fruit, rice and beans, stews scrambled eggs and some kind of bread pudding. Didn’t use the small pool. Staff were very pleasant. Food was ok. I had rice and fish with salad which for about £16 was reasonably priced as CR is not a cheap place to eat.
