We were in San Jose for only one day, but found the owners of The Green House Hostel very nice and helpful! They helped us with all the information and even walked us to the bus stop. I would recommend this place to everyone. Clean rooms, very good hosts and a fair price.

Stayed here several times on one visit. Rooms very clean, lovely atmosphere away from the centre. Breakfast and dinner available on request. Family very helpful and very friendly - nothing too much to ask. Walking distance from centre. WiFi and computer access and local shops within walking distance as well as restaurants.

Very comfortable, quiet, relaxing, and clean. A room with private bath is affordable for budget travelers. Large areas where you can rest or have meal. Cars for rent, TV, WiFi, computer access. Owners are very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I have never been to Costa Rica before, and I stayed there at my very first night after arrival. Orietta and...

My girlfriend and I arrived in the evening after a flight from Peru and were expecting it to be packed but strangely the whole place was empty? We paid $37 (I think they quoted $28 if you did not want an en suite) for a double room with bathroom which was clean and had fresh towels/toilet paper, TV, fridge en...

I stayed here only one night. Did not have a good experience, the hostel was noisy and the room was quite dirty. The only convenience was that it is close to the coca cola bus station, but would not recommend this hostel if you are travelling by yourself because it did not fee safe.

The hostel is set around a lovely little courtyard. We found it quiet despite being on a main road. The bedding was clean but the room would have benefitted from a good dusting, lots of cobwebs on the walls and dust on the backs of the doors, otherwise it was clean. The owner and staff were very helpful and gave...

First off...this has been my best night of sleep in this type of room (a hostel). The bed and room were average and modest, adorned with a Bible and candle only. The reason we stayed here was to catch the first bus to Paso Canoas for the Panama border crossing. It was close and reasonable. We paid $30 for a...

This place is good value for money. If you want to be close to attractions in the centre of San Jose, then this is a great option. Clean and affordable with good service. There is a relaxing lounge area with magazines and a good selection of books to chose from. It is quiet at night so you can get a...

An interesting layout. There is a huge open space that all of the rooms open onto. It is covered but yet open to the outside at the roof line. Furniture and plants are scattered about. You feel like you're outdoors but not. Very comfortable. However, it's noisy. The street in front has non-stop bus traffic. Also, the room we were...
