We didn't stay there but ate lunch. There is nowhere else within an hours drive. VERY limited menu. Chili tasted like ketchup with kidney beans. Refer was down for cooling drinks. Homemade bread was excellent. Plenty of parking. This place would not do well if there were any competition .

I stayed here for just one night on a stop off between McCarty and Denali. Sleeping facilities were basic but comfortable and bathroom facilities were shared. We rented canoes for a trip down river, with the current so not too much paddling ($50 hour) which was great fun. Food is cheap and portions are big. There are plenty of friendly...

Very accommodating people, especially Matt, who went out of his way to explain things about the area to us and make us feel at home. Facilities were clean and simple including the shared bathroom. There was live music in the lodge during dinner, which was entertaining. Food was delicious, especially the homemade bread and homemade ice cream. Just hope you...

Driving the Denali highway in sunny weather was a fantastic experience. So were very happy to stay in a lodge along the actual dirt road part. As the evening we arrive the weather was good we could right away enjoy the spectacular scenery around the MacLaren river lodge - good we did that because in the morning there was fog...

If you really want to get away from it all...This is the place! We were able to receive many services in the middle of the boonies of Alaska from this place. They were friendly, helpful, and they have the most amazing views!!! Very remote and they know what customer service is all about!!

Amazing just truly amazing! 42 miles of spectacular scenery was breathtaking I was told the road in was horrible but found it in better shape than some service areas maintained in Fairbanks Arriving at Maclaren River Lodge around 5 and getting settled in was easy Had a...

The Denali Highway is gorgeous, but remote. Good food and grocery stores are 100s of miles apart. While traveling this section of the highway vehicles can break down, get flat tires, wear out their trailer springs etc. The highway itself is a true adventure! The slow drive is worth the effort with views of Alaskan Range Mountains (including DENALI) and...

Stayed here for one night whilst on a tour. The tour had booked out the "Fox's Den" cabins which had a comfortable queen bed and single bed in each room. Rooms were clean and well presented and there were shared bathroom facilities that were modern and clean. Restaurant had a detailed menu for being in the middle of nowhere and...

Wanted to take a minute to praise the staff at Maclaren River Lodge. We stayed next door at Crazy Dog Kennel (in a great little cabin... My next review) and walked next door to the lodge for dinner and breakfast. The food was GREAT and the staff was super friendly. Pretty amazing for a place so remote! And the view....

We were travelling east from Cantwell to Glennallen on the Denali Hwy, it was getting late and got to the Maclaren River Lodge just in time for dinner and a beer. Susie and Liz met us at the door and we felt instantly at home; warm and comforted after 10 hours on the road. The place to us Arizonans was...
