I would stay at this hotel again when visiting Homer. The staff was friendly and they made check-in and check-out a breeze. The room was nice and quiet and located on the second floor of the hotel. The view from the room was excellent with a great water view! Room was also very clean and well-maintained. The breakfast was great, with a made-to-order omelet station as well as the standard breakfast staples - scrambled eggs, fresh Belgium waffles, sausage links, potatoes, bacon, cereal and more. Centrally located to everything in Homer. About a 10 minute drive to the "end of the land" at the Split.
The room was clean. Plenty of channels on tv. Very close to homer spit. Restaurant and lounge onsite. a large area for pets to do their business with bags. grocery store close by as well as shops in town.
We were in Alaska for almost two weeks. This was our one and only bad experience. The beds are bad enough that even our teens didn’t sleep well. Breakfast was not good at all. Furthermore, we ended up in a dispute over being charged for two rooms after staff miscommunicated with my wife and they would not refund us for the additional unused room. She was supposedly getting a medical worker discount, instead they double charged us. What an awesome way to support medical workers and what a GREAT way to treat customers. Do NOT go here. There are much better options in Homer from my understanding and I regret we didn’t do more research.
The room was of a decent value and is in a good location in Homer, however, the 6 nights that I spent there were the worst nights of sleep that I’ve ever experienced at a hotel. I had twenty-somethings (Coast Guard service members?) that were living in the rooms above and next to me, and partied most of the day and night. One morning I found part of a glass beer bottle that seemed to have fallen into my shoe off the second story verandah from the previous night’s party. A very disappointing experience at the Best Western Bidarka Inn.
Not even close to the best Best Western motel we've stayed at. At best it is average. The breakfast was probably the best part of this stay. I don't know if this is typical of all the rooms but one thing that we found oddly comical was the commode in the bathroom was installed against the wall on one side. It was like someone trying to crowd you off of the thing.
