Open for over 30 years, Waterfall Resort Alaska has established itself as the premier resort in Southeast Alaska. Located by Southeast Alaska's famous Inside Passage near Ketchikan, just a 90 minute flight from Seattle, Waterfall Resort provides the adventure of Alaskan sport-fishing together with the beauty of the surrounding Tongass National Forest. Originally built in 1912 on the island of Prince Wales, the historic Alaskan salmon cannery was renovated as our all-inclusive sport fishing lodge. Many of our guests return each year to enjoy our all inclusive Alaska vacation. You get comfortable accommodations, 3 delicious meals, plus the fishing experience of a lifetime. We only allow 4 guests to our 27 foot boats with an expert guide, professional gear, heated cabin, air suspension seats and private head. We provide the overalls, jackets and boots. We clean, cut, fast-freeze and box your fish plus check it through to Alaska Airlines via our on site rep. Everyone leaves with fish!

What a great experience! We caught so many fish. Our guide, Jeff, was very experienced and helpful. We loved the walk to the waterfall and were suprised by the bear that was checking it out as well. The food was delicious. Our trip to the resort took a little longer due to weather conditions. We appreciated their concerns about safety.

Thank you so much, Stacey. Yes, this season's weather was challenging at times, and we're so happy you enjoyed the trip. Jeff is great as are so many of our guides. The bears are a lot of fun to see, too, along with our resident deer. Thanks again!

Third time to submit my review cause Waterfall keeps getting Tripadvisor to remove it. Waterfall must not want you to see the truth about their resort. Stayed at Waterfall the week of Aug 10-15. If you want a touristy trip with mediocre food and 50/50 fishing guides, then this is your place. Me and my wife went to Waterfall with a group of 6. Waterfall ended up splitting me and my wife into two different boats after I was guaranteed by the resort this wouldn't happen. My boat captain NEVER found any king salmon at all. His excuse everyday was that none of the boats were catching Kings. But, everyday my wife's boat would come in and the entire boat caught Kings. Her boat caught the King of the day, twice. It would be natural to say my wife was just a great fishermen but when she came out on my boat the 2nd day, no Kings were caught. We only limited out on Halibut one day. When I asked to at least get our daily limit on Halibut, my captain only made fun of me. Our captain also came back for the day an hour before any other boat. On our 3rd day, one of the girls from the resort even asked our Captain why we keep coming back so early. I had read many reviews on Waterfall previous to our trip. The bad reviews were all about green guides. I addressed my concern about guides with our Waterfall representative months before our trip. He guaranteed me all the guides were experienced. When I first stepped on my boat, my captain told me they hire 5 to 6 new guides every season. Seems to be some salesmanship going on here. We upgraded our room to one of the cottages on the water at a $300 a night add on. Once in Ketchikan, our Waterfall representative told all of our group they got upgraded rooms for free. I asked if we get our $300 a night back since I was the only one to pay for an upgrade, and he said no. The food was not great and our whole group had to send back our food to the kitchen multiple times. Only great thing about Waterfall is the black bears. Go to the waterfall and the bears are everywhere. We got stuck at Waterfall Resort due to weather. Waterfall was terrible with giving us travel details. If you don't hang out in the bar, you get 0 info. We scheduled our flights with a one day pad cause we know Alaska weather. We didn't get to fly home for 3 days after our original departure. We could of still made our original flight but all the boat captains got too drunk at the resort bar and couldn't run their boats the next day. No Joke!!! This really happened. We were the last trip of the year and as soon as the last day of fishing was over the entire resort staff flooded the bar. The resort could of boated us to Craig the next day and we would of still made our flight but the captains all claimed to be too drunk from the night before. We are avid sportsmen in Alaska. This resort is not for the serious sportsmen. If you want a lively bar, mediocre food, average housing, and a 50% chance of a bad guide, this is your place. There are 27 boats and most mornings start with all the boats crawling over each other to try and catch maybe a single Salmon an hour.

We take every guest’s feedback seriously and have requested numerous times that you contact us via email or phone to resolve your concerns. Since you have been unwilling to communicate with us directly, we need to set the record straight on a couple of issues: 1. Trip Advisor removed your review due to their own policies about reviews. 2. No guides were unable to operate their boats the morning of departure. 3. Due to extremely bad weather, all of the float plane companies and charter boat companies were unwilling to transport our guests to Ketchikan on their day of departure and let us know that is was very unlikely (due to projected further deteriorating conditions) that they would be able to accommodate us the next morning. Consequently, Waterfall chartered the Inter Island ferry to move our guests the following day. We would still appreciate the opportunity to talk to you directly about the other issues raised in your review.

My 13 year old son and I had a magical time together at the Waterfall Resort beginning August 2020. The resort staff took great care in making us feel safe with the covid issues. Our guide, Grant, was awesome and got us into tons of fish. The food was amazing and facility was clean. Seeing the black bears come into the falls at night looking for fish was a highlight as well. Time spent with my son on the back of a boat fishing all day with no cell service was PRICELESS! We'd go again in a heartbeat.

Joseph, it's so true that getting away from the daily grind, unplugging and enjoying the peace and adventure with loved ones cannot be replaced, and Alaska is the perfect place to accommodate it. The bears are so fun to see, especially since they really don't give a hoot about people. They just want fish like everyone else, along with their grass. We're so pleased to have had you visit with your son. We're looking forward to another great season next year and hope you can join us again for more quality time.

Just finished my 24th'ish trip to Waterfall (so many times, I lost count) so, obviously I like the place a lot. But, kudos to the Waterfall Group to persevere thru Covid and still get us some fishing time. Most other fishing camps & trips this year have been cancelled so it was awesome to get this trip in. Camp did a great job under the circumstances to keep things safe but still provide an excellent fishing adventure. And, the expanded King Salmon limits were a beautiful silver lining. See you again next year!

Unbelievable place, from the minute you book to the pre-trip Covid testing to arriving in Ketchikan, to the floatplane flight to the resort, the entire time we were there, fishing, meals, preparing and packing our fish, all of it, the float plane back, until we got on the plane, the Waterfall team took unbelievable care of us to make sure we had a trip of a lifetime, incredible service you won't see many, if any, places. Special thanks to our guide Jeff, we had a great time fishing, super accommodating, made sure we caught literally as much fish as we could handle, saw all the sights, and had a great time. If you've ever thought about going to Alaska fishing you aren't going to do better than this place.
