Detailed Reviews
Ben to ak fishing several times and looking for the best combination of fishing accommodations, short boat trip, food and friendly people. Was a little hesitant because the lodge was just sold so under new ownership but our experience was wonderful. Very difficult to travel to and from if you live east of the Mississippi but worth the effort. Met with the new owner and his wife and were greeted with courtesy and friendliness. The staff was small but very efficient and made our experience wonderful. Already booked for next year which is something when you are close to 80 years old. I think that point is all the explanation needed

What a week we had! Best accommodations ever! No need to look anywhere else. Josh and his crew did an excellent job. We caught our limit every day. They were friendly, fun to be with, and they made our adventure amazing! The meals, snacks, sack lunches and attention to detail were top notch. Jennifer creates magic in the kitchen! First rate chef. You will not find a better place to stay or fish.

I had the opportunity after years of dreaming to book an Alaska Fishing Trip and after much research, I booked at Kodiak Lodge. Great Choice! The experience was everything I had hope for and more. It started with a great welcome from the team at Kodiak Lodge. The rooms were awesome! Extremely clean, different outdoor themes in each room, great bed and instant hot water. Entertaining Lodge we also first class! Tremendous views, relaxing and the food was terrific. To me, fishing was the bonus and a bonus it was. Great Captain and he worked hard to ensure everyone on the boat had the best fishing experience possible.

After a few years of running strictly as a corporate retreat, Kodiak Lodge has responded to the public. My fiancé and I along with another couple visited the Lodge in late June. I had never been to AK before and was blown away by its beauty. We saw several bald eagles, lush green rolling hills, wide open spaces all while catching plenty of Halibut, Black Bass and King Salmon. The experience of fishing in AK was like no other. We were able to bring plenty of fish back with us to share with our family and friends. Our fishing guide, Josh, has been fishing the waters around Kodiak Island for several years and really knew the "hot" spots and made our fishing experience effortless and tons of fun. Reeling in my first King Salmon was definitely a highlight of the trip. Our chef, Jennifer also made a lasting impression on us. The way she prepared the days catch will be a memory about the lodge that I will never forget. All of her meals were fresh and super delicious-I especially liked her fish and chips and breakfast oatmeal. On top of all of this, our accommodations were top notch with a breathtaking view overlooking the water. We had a deck off our room where we could sit and drink our morning coffee while taking in the tranquil scenery. Thank You to the entire staff at Kodiak Lodge for providing a memorable vacation!

We had the best time here, I didn’t want to leave. All rooms have a private bathroom, that is so nice. There are TVs with DVD players in the rooms, so you can bring your own or they have many to choose from that you can borrow. I won’t even try to describe how beautiful it was there. We saw so much wildlife; whales, otters, deer and mountain goats to name a few. The fishing was amazing and I loved spending the day on the boat. Our guide Josh worked so hard to make sure we were always on fish! He guided you on what to do without doing it for you. He was a coach and a cheerleader. I’ve never met someone white so much passion about what he does. He was amazing!
In the morning you wake up with breakfast ready for you, they pack your lunch and when you come in, they have appetizers and happy hour waiting. For dinner you have something that you caught, which is prepared for you and always so delicious, including sides and desert. The only thing to be careful about is, the sun doesn’t really set, so it’s easy to lose track of the time, and when you’re getting up early to do it all again, that can catch you off guard.
Still enjoying the fish I caught, see the photos(I have so many, it was hard to choose a few to post). It was a very clean, professional and a first class experience. I can’t wait to go back!

When I found out Kodiak Lodge was opening back up, I was truly ecstatic. I've taken both business and personal trips here, and made memories at both that will last a lifetime. Using this as a customer incentive trip, the lifelong friendships created while experiencing "the real Alaska" are priceless. Your customers will not know how to thank you. Not only is the fishing phenomenal, but the staff truly goes out of their way to make you feel special. Everything is well thought out and all you have to do is show up. The food is fantastic and they only use top-notch gear. This place is a real gem! Cannot wait to go back!

I was extremely excited to hear that Kodiak Lodge had reopened to the public. I had fished there years before and have always cherished the memories. I had the opportunity to go again this past June and it was far better than I remembered! Not only was the fishing phenomenal but the overall experience far exceeded my expectations. From the first class accommodations, breathtaking views, ample wildlife and amazing meals, I couldn't have asked for anything more. So if you're looking for that perfect Alaska experience, Kodiak Lodge is the place for you!!

A great place for fun and fishing. The staff was super nice and helpful. the food was far better than expected. The boats, rain gear, fishing grear was all top notch. most importantly the crew Put Us on Fish!!!
Josh also helped us, when the local airline couldn't fly out of Kodiak Airport due to VFR restrictions.... He found us a plane we could hire to Anchorage. We paid more money, but we all made it back to the east coast and made our flights. If we didn't hire a plane it would had cost us more.
I will definitely head back to Kodiak Lodge!!!

My experience at Kodiak Lodge was nothing less than exceptional. Every aspect exceeded expectations and I would HIGHLY recommend this experience to anyone considering a fishing trip to Alaska.
The staff (Josh, Scott, Jennifer, Quinn, and Eric) were incredibly kind, knowledgable, and experts at their craft. They made us feel very welcomed - and were fully committed to our happiness and enjoyment.
The fishing was phenomenal. Josh and Scott are truly masters of their craft - and they worked diligently every day to maximize our fishing experience. We caught A LOT of fish, and we learned so much along the way. I was blown away by their knowledge of fish, techniques, wildlife, and Alaska (and other areas) - these guys are the real deal.
The room/accommodations were 5-star. Each guest had their own room with a personal sink, and 2 rooms share a shower and toilet. You would never know that you were in remote Alaska if you were standing in the rooms. I was comfortable every night.
The food was excellent. The chef, Jennifer, is an amazing person - and my only disappointment is that I didn't get to spend more time with her! Beyond her talent in the kitchen, she has a wealth of knowledge to share about Alaska, fishing, boats, and cooking! Take every advantage you have to learn from her... I told her that she should write a book!
Outside of the fishing, food, and company - there are plenty of activities to do in Larsen Bay. Electric bikes were an awesome way to explore, and the lodge has plenty of other activities to keep you busy.
The ONLY thing to consider when traveling to Larsen Bay is that the weather can become a factor getting to/from Kodiak & Larsen Bay. We had a spell of dense fog that delayed our departure, so just be mindful of this. Josh was very helpful in navigating this issue.
I could go on, but the TLDR version is that if you're considering an Alaskan fishing trip - you should absolutely choose Kodiak Lodge. I am certain you will not be disappointed!

Josh, Scott, Jennifer and Gail were the most accommodating and gracious hosts for the week. Everything from the fishing to rooms were top notch. The meals that were prepared was some of the best fish I have ever had! I can't wait to go back.
