I was very pleased with my stay at the Ngeluwungan Boutique Villa. It‘s clean, new facilities and beautiful garden with pool overlooking the neighboring rice field offer a lot of space for all kinds of travelers to chill, relax, work, read, chat, get to know each other, etc. The staff members - thank you Star, Dede and Syahrul- were incredibly helpful and friendly at all times. I would give this stay a total of 10 of 10 points, also considering the great location not far from the Pererenan beach and it‘s affordable price.

Upon arrival I was shocked, the photos are not reflective of the property at all, especially the King Room. The Manager was wonderful and helped me find a property that suited. However I have been charged for the room and whilst I have contacted the property a few times I have had no response.

The Villa was an amazing place to stay. It was so peaceful as it backs onto the rice paddies. There are only 6 units on the property but so much of the property was used to increase the experience for their guests. The restaurant area is large. Breakfast was the same every day but it was delicious and beautifully presented. garden and pool area is massive. There is a whole separate area just for massages. To get to our unit, we walked over a tiny bridge over a koi pond. The unit was very large with a giant bathroom area. Beautiful marble throughout. The bathroom doesn't have a door which I wasn't very stoked about. It is a cool design but not conducive to privacy. There is a desk, wardrobe, water jug and a fridge. This hotel is just on the northern fringe of Canggu so it is quieter than the main part of the town. There are a few good restaurants nearby. Development is definitely on the way and I'm sure the main street will be very busy in 5 to 10 years but for right now it is a great spot. It is only a 10 minute walk to the famous Echo Beach. The people who work here are amazing. Gedde, one of the owners, was one of the nicest people I've ever met. He went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience. If you want to enjoy a peaceful experience in what can be sometimes can be a crazy busy Canggu, then this is the place.

A real range of positives and negatives here. The staff are lovely and friendly, and the actual layout and presentation of the villas, rooms and grounds are good. The pool looked nice and clean, and the view overlooks some rice fields. However, other parts of the property are just not up to scratch. The walls in our room had patches where paint had peeled off, bedsheets weren't in the best condition and the towels seemed a bit worn and didn't smell particularly fresh. The A/C also had a terrible rattle which was noisy all night, only to be replaced by the sound of the building work next door in the morning. We had a ground-floor room with an outdoor bathroom (which looks lovely in the photos) but it was seriously dated and not particularly pleasant. The shower looked ancient, and the drains had a nasty smell, the toilet was stained and the taps were covered in limescale. Soap, shampoo and shower gel provided was also very basic, and in quite cheap looking pump-action containers. The overall effect was of somewhere that wasn't really being maintained that well, and seriously not worth the price we paid. On the positive side, the breakfast was lovely with lots of choice, and I really liked the area that the villa is in. Canggu has a real laid-back feel to it, and the villa is a 5-10 minute walk from a beach that is great for sunsets, and a proper local hangout. (Be sure to stop at Beer e Pizza on the way there or back for food). I'd come back to Canggu, but unfortunately I would stay elsewhere.

I am sorry to submit this review but we had a very negative experience. While the staff were helpful, the facility was far below expected standards. The bedding looked clean, but the bed and pillows smelled strongly of sweat (probably because the AC did not function well and the room was very hot). The bathroom was very spartan and dirty (especially the sink), and there were stains all over the floor. The common facilities were not up to the standards described by other reviewers; adequate but certainly not special, and appeared dated and unclean. The location was also very remote and inconvenient. We had paid for three nights and spent one very uncomfortable night, then moved to an alternate facility. We stayed at 4 different locations in Bali, all with similar pricing and reviews. This was the only property that was not excellent and consistent with reviews. THE PRICE AND REVIEWS ARE NOT IN LINE WITH REALITY

My wife and I have just returned from our first Bali visit of 12 days duration having selected Ngeluwungan based on Trip Advisor reviews. We loved Bali and most of all loved Ngeluwungan. All staff looked after us well and we particularly thank Gede, Syrahul, Octa and Star. They were always busy doing their varied duties but found time to go the extra mile to make sure guests enjoyed their stay. It felt like home from the word go and was welcoming to return to each afternoon once the days activities finished. A lovely pool and garden; excellent food and taxi services; exceptional room cleaning and an efficient laundry service. All very competitively priced too. We will most definitely return to this peaceful haven. Well done Chris; you have created something very special.

We stayed here for 3 nights and would recommend if you like a quiet place. The staff were charming, especially Gede who really took care of us (airport pick up, suggestions of places to visit and restaurants to visit etc.). There's not a lot in the surrounding area, but for kicking back and relaxing, this is a good place to base yourself.

Overall all of the facilities are old and in urgent need of investment, you can argue that this is reflected in the costs of the accommodation, but I would still expect more modern facilities that are fully working. A CAUTION for anyone booking their accommodation here: there are the significant building works happening around the villas. The constant sound of hammering and drilling completely spoilt what was advertised as a calming and relaxing environment. MOST ALARMING was the ability for builders on the site next to the villas being able to see into our outdoor bathroom facilities, this WAS TOTALLY unacceptable. Despite complaining to the management nothing was done about this issue during our stay and the work carried on over the weekend as well.

I am currently here at the hotel for 7 nights. This lovely boutique has been well reviewed and I agree that it deserves its great reviews. I especially enjoyed the luxurious bed linens, the well maintained gardens, the pleasant staff, the lovely room upgrade and the seafood BBQ. The airport pickup was seemless.
