We really enjoyed our stay at Mrs May Kieu’s homestay! Don’t forget to try the herbal bath which gives you the best night sleep! Totally worth it to see how the locals live! Highly Recommended! If you are struggling to book the homestay online try to email or whatsapp as seen in her attached card!
We are five friends and we stayed with ms May for one night (two full days). The first day with had a trekking tour on the mountains and through the forest. The second day we went for a walk around the fields and we helped plant some corn and bean seeds. They cooked very nice food for us and the hospitality was great. They also offered a herbal bath in hot water and traditional sewing lessons. overall experience perfect!
I stayed with May Kieu and her family my first night on a solo motorbike tour through North Vietnam. She came and met me at a coffee shop in downtown Sapa and then I drove the motorbike with her guiding me to beautiful waterfalls and to her friends house where we had a delicious meal and helped pick squash. It was really interesting to be the only foreigner for lunch where they all spoke there native language which is different than Vietnamese. Although I couldn't speak we all enjoyed eachothers' company and May Kieu would translate for me occasionally and answer my questions in English. We then drove to the central market to look at traditional hemp fabrics and then went to her homestay in Ta Phin Village. I enjoyed a meal with her family and a Bath in Hot herbal tea which was so relaxing. The next morning I had to leave to continue on to my next destination. Staying with May Kieu and her family was really fun for me. They were so kind, excited about my curiosity, quick to answer my questions and they fed me very well. I would totally recommend anyone whether alone or with a group to stay with May Kieu and to learn about the beautiful culture of the people living in Ta Phin and other villages around Sapa. Such a beautiful way of life and way of connecting as a community. Inspired me a lot.…
We had such a nice trekkingtrip with Mrs. Kieu. She can show us a lot of her traditional knowledge. We saw, how you can make tofu, learnd something about traditionell funerals and how you can earn food. The homestay is modest but clean and close to the nature. The whole host family was very welcoming. Only the matrasse could have been a little bit softer. We can recommend this accommodation!
I stayed in this homestay with my guide. The first night I was the only guest and they made me feel so special. I got a real insight into the Vietnamese culture and ways. They were so giving of their knowledge. The food was delicious! The second night here, they made us each a herbal bath, after dinner, which was absolutely perfect for relaxing after 5 days on a motorbike, or trekking is some people’s cases. The beds are very hard, but other than that, I had the best experience here! This is why I travel, to get in touch with the locals and this family gave me that! Thank you!
