Travelled up from the South Island and on an impulse decided to spend the weekend in Orewa to meet our son who is working further north. Most motels were already booked out and this too was full for the weekend. Positives = the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, clean, with tv, small kitchen facilities and...

We really enjoyed our overnight stay here. The motel is right on the beach & were able to get up for a wonderful walk on a beautiful autumn morning. The kitchen & bathroom were adequate & the bed comfortable & we were within walking distance of the shops. Our host was very friendly & helpful.

Firstly, the owners are really lovely and very helpful. That was the only positive. Now to our 2 bedroom apartment. It needs a makeover. If I could smell the room over the Internet, I would not have booked it. The room smell was like walking into an op shop full of old clothes. The furniture needs to be steam cleaned,...

Dated is an understatement for this property. We stayed in unit two, which has two bedrooms, a full kitchen and bathroom. The unit was pretty shabby, with stained carpet, cracked floor tiles and peeling paint. Even the plates were stained! We found the beds to be very uncomfortable and as well as this, there was an outdoor light that shone...

I stayed at this motel unexpectedly, after I had messed up a booking at another local motel. I wasn't disappointed. My large, clean unit looked out across the beach and the ocean, which was a great way to start the day (and to end it over a cold beer). My unit had a living room with a single bed and...

I have return to Edgewater motel for the second time over Auckland Anniversary weekend. I was in same beach front unit from my last stay which was same time last year. The unit does look out dated but I found it very comfortable which is very important. If you are planning to stay at Edgewater motel I recommend that you...

Excellent service, beautiful setting. Thank you! We were held up on SH1. Turned around and decided to stay here. Rounded off a eventful weekend! Right on beach. Clean and practical unit. Friendly and courteous reception. Will be back. We were not on holiday but it's central and with the beach s minute away this will be a good destination.

We stayed with friends last month in one of the older units closer to the road. It was fairly clean -apart from a very greasy oven tray, the unit was a little dated. It was convenient to walk along the beach in the morning. We did ask if there was a bbq we could use but unfortunately no. Friendly managers.

The property is dated & aging but functional with a fabulous location right on the beautiful, huge Orewa beach & very close to downtown. We chose an upstairs motel facing the beach with a large living room, dining area & full kitchen. Bedroom was small at the back. It suited us fine & was very quiet.

I had a studio room for one night while travelling. Its a bit dated but spotlessly clean and was only charged $130 for the night. I slept with the door open all night and listened to the sea. Awesome. Beautiful neck of the woods, and being Auckland I really was expecting a very expensive hotel night rather than one of...
