My wife and I scheduled our stay in Bora bora as the last leg of an extended trip through Australia and the South Pacific. We were looking forward to this stop as the Island had been on our 'bucket list' for many years.

I'm at the Le Meridien now and staying at the end of the pontoon facing the motu. I would say there ain't much to see to be honest. There are virtually no corals and it's like one big blue swimming pool. We saw the odd fish here or there but otherwise, nothing exciting. On the other hand, we found the inner lagoon particularly around the chapel to be really great. That's because it's right beside the Turtle Centre. They have planted some corals inside an enclosed area for the injured turtles to swim and rehabilitate, which has then attracted a lot of colourful coral fish to enter this area. They have also extended the coral planting around the chapel and underneath it. So the fish from the Turtle Centre will come out and swim around as well. While they are used to swimming with people, they are very friendly and will swim very close to you. Guests can pay XPF3000 per person to join an hour of Turtle Healing Hour, which includes 30mins of swimming with the turtles supervised within the enclosed area! It is very worthwhile and educational.
Hope this is of help.
