We enjoyed our stay at the Intercontinental SO much! A HUGE thank you to the staff at the Reef and Sands Restaurants - Moehere, Mihiau, Heitiare, Teri and Vainui - who took such great care of us for breakfast and lunch! Thank you to the pool staff - especially Moses - who provided such fun activities throughout the day! We learned how to open a coconut and even make a purse from coconut leaves. The staff always made sure we had everything we needed! We wish we could have stayed longer and can't wait to come back again soon! Thank you so much to all, Tommie & Lauren Arnold
Our stay for our ten year anniversary was unbelievable at IHC Bora Bora. When we arrived on the property, we were greeted by the friendly and accommodating staff and management. Walking into our over water bungalow was absolutely one of the best experiences I have ever had. The property is amazing. Modern and updated everything. The villas are luxury and made us feel as though we were staying in a luxury apartment over the water and the private plunge pool is a must! Our favorite part of the entire stay was the private dinner that the hotel put on for us in the lagoon. Hands down, I think this experience is a must for anyone who is staying here. There are plenty of amenities on property (non motorized activities, spa, gym, pool) and there is no reason to leave the property. The restaurants and dining experiences were great as well. Lastly, I have to sing the praises of management for making our stay absolutely fantastic. Specifically Sergey was very helpful and just amazing at making sure we had a great time. A very sincere thank you to Sergey and all staff at IHC Bora Bora from us. We will be back!!!…
My husband and I finally made it to Bora Bora for our overdue honeymoon. It was a dream destination and we are so happy we splurged. While prices are expensive, it is a remote island where everything has to be imported so it makes sense. Of course everyone always wishes for things to be cheaper, but this was well worth the stay! The resort was beautiful and quiet. It had a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of space to spread out so you didn't feel crowded by other families here. The concierge desk was quick to assist and answer any questions promptly. I recommend this hotel to anyone considering an amazing, relaxing vacation!
Intercontinental Thalasso Spa We visited 8 years ago and were so impressed we set a goal to return and we did. The resort itself is very well laid out with lots of amenities. Intercontinental as a brand in Australia has declined significantly in recent years. So much so we have directed much of our own business and that of our staff to Bon VOY and Accor. We have all but ceased using Intercontinental in Australia after 10 years of loyalty. Having witnessed the decline in service, club offerings, upgrades and recognition of status we were apprehensive heading back to an Intercontinental Property. Well the problem must be limited to Australia because Intercontinental Thalasso Spa was every bit as good as the intercontinental brand ever was. We received recognition of our status, we received an actual room upgrade, not the tier splitting fake upgrades that are now standard in Australian Intercon properties. The staff were attentive and polite. Nothing was too much trouble and if something wasn’t right they would fix it. We had some issues with the WIFi (but let’s face it we are on an island in the pacific) they responded rapidly and reset equipment and managed the issue. The spa here is the best spa we have ever used anywhere in the world. The concierge were available, helpful and showed great initiative. The communication was great. We stayed in a pool villa on the southern boardwalk of the property. This is location made access to the resturant and bars easier. However the Neighbour’s on this side appear to be a family who own many dogs. If you don’t mind the sound of the dogs barking when people come and go you will be fine. The barking wasn’t constant but it was a lot. On our second last day while sitting on our deck we are quite sure we heard them slaughter a pig. That was quite unpleasant but in fairness completely beyond the control of the Intercontinental. Our Villa was excellent. Very comfortable and clean. The house keeping staff were amazing. They did such a good job. They cleaned the villa very well. Room service can be a challenge. It is a bit difficult to access the menu. It’s on the TV. You need your phone to scan the QR code. If you manage to find the QR codes they will be obstructed by a semi transparent black ribbon which is the overlay of a companion operating system. As counterintuitive as this sounds, once you find the QR codes you need to press exit ( the last button you would press once you have found what you are looking for) this will remove the overlay. You will need to have accessed the WIFi to scan the QR code and read the menu. Refer to my previous point about WIFi. I can’t help but think someone in a 1st world capital city came up with this. One of the staff took mercy on us and gave us a paper menu. This was the break we needed. We have thoroughly enjoyed this stay and Intercontinental Thalasso Spa, has restored our faith in the brand and led us to believe the dire issues with the significant decline in the standards at Intercontinental might be limited to Australia. We are currently scheduling 2 major trips for 2023 ( 7 weeks USA and Canada and 2024 (16 weeks Europe) we had completely erased IHG from our planning because of the Australian properties and their management. We have chosen Bon VOY and Accor properties to date. But now, because of the performance of the team at Intercontinental Thalasso Spa we have decided to now include IHG properties in our plans. Well done Thalasso team. 5 stars all around. We will be back.…
My check-in was a little rough, think they forgot about me...and left me to roast in the sun. The resort is gorgeous, the pool and view is superb, drinks and food are expensive as they are anywhere on Bora Bora. The over water bungalow is an experience, they are large with 2 rooms. The grandeur is a little lost if your neighbors are loud or just enjoying the water but it is still a once in a lifetime experience for most. Outside of check-in, staff was fantastic. A little dissapointed that they shuttle you off so early for the airport considering the size and fact you can arrive 30 minutes before your flight and be fine. Also "final" price on the website doesn't include transport to and from the hotel. Also the staff drives golf carts everywhere, and they are just a little bit smaller than the paths... I felt like I was constantly stepping out of the way of a golf cart...…
This was a bucket list trip for a big birthday. We absolutely loved the over water villa experience and the amazing hospitality extended to us. We are well travelled and found the resort just perfect and the warmth and friendliness of the staff world class. I absolutely recommend this resort and the Bora Bora experience. Can’t speak highly enough of how awesome the staff were. So genuine, warm and friendly in looking after their guests. Hospitality like we’ve never had before.
Beautiful accommodations and very kind and helpful staff. We had an OTW with pool bungalow and the interior was so beautiful. Our pool was scenic, but a little too cold to use, and not necessary when you have the lagoon to jump in anytime you like! One of our pool-side lounge chairs was broken and we had to request it to be repaired, which I thought should have been noticed and repaired or replaced prior to guest arrival, but that was my only incredibly minor criticism. The restaurants are all excellent and the Polynesian show was worth attending. The Thalasso spa is beautiful and the massage and scrub I had was very good. I would recommend getting at least one spa treatment during your stay and set aside extra time before or after to enjoy the other spa facilities. Our trip to the Intercontinental Thalasso and followed by a stay at The Brando on Tetiaroa was arranged by Venture Tahiti and our travel agent was so helpful with all of our questions and, when we missed our initial flight, helped us with the necessary updates to our travel plans, so it was unfortunate but with their help, everything was resolved with minimal headaches.…
My wife and I recently stayed (September 2022) at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa for our honeymoon; wow what an experience. Room We stayed in room 212 an overwater pool villa with lagoon view and we could not have been happier; it was perfect. The room was spacious, immaculately clean and very well equipped and the views were spectacular. There was one small surprise, the sea is warmer than the villa pool. Resort The resort is beautifully maintained and when you are moving around, there is a constant reminder that you are staying in an extremely special location. Everything has been planned to perfection. Staff The staff also deserve a special mention, normally people pick out one or two members who help make their stay special; but on this occasion the service provided by every single one of them was absolutely amazing and added to the whole experience. Extremely warm, friendly and helpful; nothing was ever too much trouble for them; and they completed everything with a smile on their faces. Dining The food ranged from good to spectacular. Breakfast - Excellent Lunch - Excellent Evening meal - Good to Excellent (we did not get visit the Le Corail Restaurant as it was fully booked). Romantic Dinner on the beach.... WOW! Spectacular! The setting, food and service was first class, Mitchellin star quality in paradise. All in all we absolutely loved our stay at this amazing resort. It was the perfect way to start married life, memories that we will dine out on forever! Hopefully we will get to visit this amazing place again.... maybe our 10th anniversary!…
If I had an option to give this resort a 10 out of 5 rating, I would. This resort went over and above and one of the highlights of our vacation to Bora Bora. The family consensus is that this is now the best family vacation EVER and that is largely thanks to the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa. Just getting to stay here was special in itself but to spend Christmas here was an extra special bonus. First of all the staff are EXCEPTIONAL - so friendly and kind!! EVERYONE we interacted with were so kind and hospitable. Special thanks to the Concierge team who provided us with great help prior to our arrival and during our stay as well. The villas are beyond beautiful and so comfortably appointed. The pristine water surrounds each villa and so nice to be able to go for a swim off your dock whenever you like. The overall facility is large and peaceful. A pool at your disposal and endless beach...also a Spa which we didn't have time for but will aim to visit when we return one day. The resort has 3 restaurants and 1 bar to choose from. We ate at 2 out of the 3 restaurants and they were excellent. Delicious meals, especially our Christmas Eve buffet. The only complaint here is that I over ate. So entirely my fault and not the resort - LOL! I have no will power especially when a vast array of yummy dishes are offered. I would like to also extend a special thank you to the resort for spoiling my kids to the fullest during our visit. They showered the kids with treats throughout our visit and the daily ice cream pass was well received. The resort also spoiled us adult kids too...I never felt so pampered and well taken care. And as a mom, this was by far the the most relaxing vacation I ever had. The resort is absolutely outstanding! I could write a novel about how much I love this resort. I highly recommend the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa - the place to stay in Bora Bora if you want to be pampered in paradise. Mauru'uru!! …
It's a sign that a hotel has done an outstanding job when its guests are sad to leave. We only left 4 days ago and are already dreaming of a return visit. Simply put, the resort and its location are stunning. The water is a clear, turquoise blue - too beautiful to describe - and the sight of the overwater bungalows against the water and the mountains looks like it belongs on a postcard. We were so happy we chose the Thalasso to be our home for our 5 nights on Bora Bora. From the moment we stepped off the plane and handed our luggage over to the IC staff, we were pampered and spoiled by the friendly and helpful staff, some of whom went above and beyond. Most of the staff were incredible. For example, Hinatea (concierge) helped book dinner reservations and excursions prior to our arrival. She was super responsive via email. She even helped with a dinner reservation in Tahiti, which was outside the scope of her duties, but she was willing to step in when I could not get a response from their sister hotel in Tahiti. It was so nice to meet her in person at the boat dock one morning. She is awesome! Also, assistant manager Eduard who helped us several times and always had a friendly greeting and checked in to see how we were doing. The breakfast manager at the Reef Restaurant - always made us feel so welcome each morning and stopped by to ask about our plans for each day. All the servers at breakfast were incredible. So warm and welcoming. A great way to start each day. The service we received from all of the restaurants (including the service by the pool) was excellent. Special shout out to the pool boys/activity boys. They picked us up one morning to drive us to the boat dock and they were so friendly and enthusiastic. When I wondered if our snorkel boat had towels, they made a stop at the pool to pick up extra towels for us to bring along. They also invited us to their Poisson cru demonstration later that day and when we stopped by just as they were serving the fish, they made sure we each got a bowl. It was delicious, esp after a morning of snorkeling. By the way, in case you have your heart set on doing the stingray feeding, we found out that they haven't done this at the hotel for the past 5 years. I guess the stingrays stopped showing up. We didn't realize this and thought we would be able to do this during our stay, but it has been canceled. I would say the weak link at the Thalasso is housekeeping, which is spotty. Some of the staff are really good (some days/nights, our room looked amazing) and others not so much. If you want your room serviced during certain times, you need to call and request it. Otherwise, you might return to your room at 1:30 to find it hasn't been serviced yet. However, even when I called and requested morning service between 9 and 12:30, it wasn't always done but the time we got back. Same with turn-down service. Some nights it was done while we were at dinner; other nights, we were skipped entirely. When they did come, they didn't always remove dirty cups and dishes, i.e. dishes we had used to cut up fruit. One morning, I discovered that housekeeping had thrown away my packaging for my rafts which I had left on top of the desk. They were there for the first 3 days, but one day they just disappeared. So, if you want to keep something, make sure you put it away in a suitcase or a drawer. Otherwise, it might be mistaken for trash and thrown away. So, while overall service is excellent, it is not perfect and there is room for improvement. Overall, we had an amazing time at the Thalasso and would definitely stay here again on our next trip. We loved lounging on our deck and swimming in the lagoon. We spent one morning at the pool, but we didn't come all the way to Bora Bora to look at a pool, so we spent most of our time looking out at that amazing clear blue water. I think I could have started at that view forever. Until next time ....…
