This place is nice modern and clean, with attention to detail like temperpedic beds and well done interior. We were searching in the town of Valdez and couldn't find anything and we decided to go upscale and this place exceaded our expectations

We stayed at the lodge in summer and the place is beautiful. The staff was extremely nice and made us feel right at home, The rooms are very small but they have a great balcony with an unbelievable view. The beds we comfortable but pretty much consumed the room. There was almost no room for our suitcase and ourselves to...

Myself and 3 friends decided to drive up to the Tsaina one rainy Saturday evening when we couldn't find any rooms available in Valdez and we were not disappointed. You can tell when you walk in the lobby and through the halls that they have paid attention to every detail and it is impressive. The artwork on the walls through...

My wife, daughter and I spent two nights at the Tsaina Lodge not knowing what to expect but found our stay to be exceptional. The staff were very welcoming, efficient, and just fun to spend time with. The accommodations were much more than I have grown to expect at your typical Alaska back country lodge. If you arrive expecting you...

We stayed at Tsaina Lodge for one night in mid-July of 2016. I would like to say that there are some nice things worth mentioning, but what it lacks in amenities is the reason for our poor rating of this accommodation. The view of the nearby glacier from the front deck is outstanding. The building is very clean and the...

Hi Riley, Thank you for your thoughtful review. We will take your concerns under review. Just to clarify a few points: We did have some nights with large vacancy because this is our first summer in operation, so our occupancy was sporadic. We anticipate next summer and the summer after to be much busier, which will lend itself to more...

The food , accommodations, and especially the view were excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Wish...

We chose Tsaina Lodge as a base camp for a summer weekend of kayaking and exploring around Valdez (35 miles away). The facility was immaculate - it looked like it could have been renovated last week. Spencer and Margaret took amazing care us, and the amazing fare coming out of Chef Adrian's kitchen made us never want to leave. Our...

I was with friends and we stayed there during the Fireweed 400 bike race. The service was excellent! (huge shout out to Kathleen and Margaret) they made us feel right at home. I usually don't sleep that well on the road, not the case here. The tempur pedic beds were a welcome plus. Very nice rooms and with a balcony,...

Stayed in summer 2016. This easily stands out as the best hotel/lodge among all places we stayed during our trip in Alaska. Clean, newly built and very comfortable. It's a contemporary style hotel. Everything in the room is carefully chosen and carefully maintained. The breakfast easily topped out expectation. I forgot to ask the chef's name but he really know...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Tsaina Lodge has a storied past. Once a ramshackle roadside lodge, it became famous as THE place to be as helicopter-skiing became popular in Thompson Pass, Alaska, just 35 miles up the road from Valdez. In 2011, the Tsaina changed ownership, and was completely rebuilt into the contemporary, luxury adventure lodge it is today. With 24-rooms, each with a genuine Tempur-pedic mattress(es), a fitness center, full-service dining and the renown Tsaina Bar (rebuilt with remnants of the old bar, complete with the same decor!) You can enjoy a host of activities, available just outside the front door. For even more excitement, book a heli for a day of fishing, hiking or glacier trekking. Other options include glacier cruising in Valdez, kayaking or stand up paddle boarding. Summer season is typically June through early September. Tsaina Lodge is also home to Valdez Heli Ski Guides in the winter months. The offer unparalleled heli-skiing and snowboarding from February to April. ... more   less
