Beautiful hotel with fabulous rooms in wonderful grounds. Staying here is like being on a gorgeous film set. We have stayed a number of times over the years and watched as the fabric of the place has deteriorated. It is now treading a fine line between charming but tired and dilapidated. That said we really enjoyed our stay and would...

This is not a simple hotel: this is an expensive but high standard hotel. Our Rose suite was absolutely beautiful, light and airy but what made it so special was the huge bunches of roses in both our room and everywhere in the hotel. Cosy open fires outside and inside made even bad weather enjoyable. we played tennis, swam, sunbathed...

Dear TravelledLondon6 It was indeed such a pleasure having you and your daughter stay with us at Kurland and we are delighted that you enjoyed the surroundings of the estate, the various activities your suite and of course the roses. If I remember correctly, you were also graced with a school of dolphins whilst at Keurbooms. Thank you for the...

Our friends who we were traveling with are both celebrating their 50th birthday this month and their daughters ride and jump horses and so we booked lunch at Kurland with a request for a cake. What a wonderful way to spend a special Sunday lunch - from the welcome, through lunch, to the arrival of the cake on the patio...

My boyfriend and I spent two night at Kurland and had a fantastic time -- the staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating and there is so much to do on the estate. We went quad biking and horseback riding and took a picnic with us to have in a newly-discovers corner of the estate. Our room fronted onto the pool...

We arrived late afternoon at Kurland Hotel in search of a room for one night last month en route westwards to Cape Town. The staff were outstanding in accommodating the needs of my disabled husband and a superb room was made available for us. The hotel, the grounds, the cuisine and above all the attentive staff provided a haven of...

This is not a farm but a hotel and polo estate and, to me, it evoked a romantic notion of the turn of the 20th century in this beautiful country. We had a gorgeous room overlooking the paddocks with a huge balcony and a very large bathroom. There is a faded glamour (not run down at all) about the place...

We had an enjoyable four nights in Kurlands with our two daughters. It was a peaceful rest after the very early starts of the game drives in Kruger. Kurlands reminds me of an old world English Country House; faded grandeur, plenty of history, antiques and trinkets, and a shabby chic style of decor in the bedrooms. The staff are very...

Ambassador to the finer things in life, Kurland is the ideal family and honeymoon retreat along The Garden Route. Situated in the foothills of the Western Cape Mountains on on a vast and beautiful private estate, complete with its own polo club, Kurland hotel is the stuff of holiday fantasies. This luxury boutique hotel, within reach of secluded beaches and a great variety of activities, has buckets of character, a never-be-bored menu of things to do, fine cuisine and staff who know the true meaning of the word ‘hospitality’.Over 50yrs ago Baron Peter Behr discovered a coastal paradise of exquisite beauty near Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route in South Africa and purchased the estate which he named Kurland after the Baltic province where he was born. In 2000, Behr’s grandson Peter, and his wife Dianne, transformed the family homestead into a Luxury Boutique Hotel which sits at the heart of a 1700 acre estate of stunning natural beauty, perfect for country pursuits. Today, Kurland is a peaceful and luxurious sanctuary which offers highly personalised service, fine cuisine and excellent facilities. Its location within the Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve allows guests the chance to enjoy equestrian activities, forest walks, unspoilt beaches, water sports, and extreme activities such as bungy jumping or sky diving. Kurland also boasts its own championship polo ground, private stables and tuition centre – perfect for guests who wish to learn to play themselves or simply sit and back and marvel at the professionals. Adult guests at Kurland will enjoy the hotel’s 12 luxurious suites, sumptuous interiors, peaceful library, gorgeous rose gardens and well equipped spa whilst parents will relax safe in the knowledge that the needs of younger guests are also very well tended to by Kurland’s experienced team of nannies.
