On arrival the staff are extremely welcoming, and it remains like that throughout the stay. The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious, with fire places perfect for an autumn evening. Meals are served in the main house on the veranda with a view down over the valley, or in the classical function rooms inside. The estate is vast and best...

A grand establishment in the Craggs - Plettenberg Bay. The idea of magnificent Polo horses strutting their stuff in this beautiful environment is simply wonderful. We stopped in for some coffee on the veranda and were welcomed by a lady from their reception block who escorted us towards the restaurant. Graceful and elegantly presented on silver trays with choc chip...

3rd STOP: The Crags, South Africa. We spent 3 nights in a Superior Loft Suite, with full board, at the Kurland Hotel, located some 20 minutes’ drive east of Plettenberg Bay. The setting is gorgeous and our room was truly sumptuous. We welcomed the room’s private plunge pool for afternoon dips. The grounds are immense, and the polo facility is...

This hotel was recommended by friends and although it is pretty expensive it is pretty unique. We stayed 3 nights and had one of the rose garden suites and the kids were in the loft room overhead with separate entrance. The massive bedroom and bathroom opened onto a terrace with plunge pool, loungers and views over the paddocks and polo...

We had the most wonderful stay in Kurland. Total relax in the most authentic charming place. The staff was very attentive and service impeccable. Food was very good as well. The hotel was full but we had the impression to be almost on our own. It was paradise for both adults and children. Our 3 kids loved the kids club...

My children and I had the most wonderful 4 days at Kurland. It has proper rustic charm. With huge fireplaces with roaring fires, deep baths and comfortable beds, we couldn't have asked for more after 4 days on safari up north. The staff went out of their way with my children, teaching my son how to build a proper fire...

This luxury boutique hotel, within reach of secluded beaches and a great variety of activities, has buckets of character, a never-be-bored menu of things to do, fine cuisine and staff who know the true meaning of the word ‘hospitality’.Over 50yrs ago Baron Peter Behr discovered a coastal paradise of exquisite beauty near Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route in South Africa and purchased the estate which he named Kurland after the Baltic province where he was born.
