We recently held our daughter's wedding at Milkwood Manor, using the in-house Lemongrass Restaurant for the reception. It is hard to imagine more beautiful views from the sea-facing bedrooms. The accommodation was clean and spacious, the staff friendly and helpful and Kees, Milkwood's owner, was a mine of information with his local knowledge. We enjoyed our little adventure in one...

We spent seven wonderful days here and reading previous reviews it is not so easy to better what has already been said. The hotel, position and how we were treated was quite unique and Kees, the owner, made sure we had every opportunity to see the surrounding area. We did not have or hire a car, wanting to just relax...

We spent four glorious days at Milkwood Manor, undoubtedly one of the highlights of our trip to SA. The location of the hotel right on the sea, as well as the view from the room are absolutely breathtaking. The rooms are spacious, full of light and beautifully decorated, the restaurant is delightful and the owner, Kees, and his colleagues are...

What can you say? Nice room, friendly people. Astonishing view from the balcony. As the sand has moved, you are now right next to the sea but quite some way from the beach. If you stay here, eat downstairs as the food is pretty good.

Fine and quiet location on the brink of the lagoon and the ocean, with friendly service. The host is very knowledgeable about interesting places and routes, whether around Plettenberg or the wider surroundings. The on-site restaurant The Lemon Grass is excellent.

This was a lovely place to stay. The views from our bedroom balcony were stunning. The restaurant was great with a lovely view of the sea and river at the estuary. A warm welcome from the owner and his staff. this was a really luxurious spot.

My husband and I stayed at Milkwood Manor in mid-March for two nights. We were warmly greeted and offered an upgraded room at no extra cost as the hotel was not fully booked. It was a treat to have a full ocean view and such great hosts. We were offered kayaks and had a great time paddling around the area....

We found Milkwood Manor by chance, and were very glad that we did! A superb position right by the sea (sea view room is highly recommended) and it was most restful to watch the waves and tides. Our room was spacious and well appointed. We especially enjoyed our breakfast in the Lemon Tree Restaurant so close to the sea, but...

Milkwood Manor is perfectly situated where river and ocean meet. The location is idyllic, accommodation top-notch and service excellent. Our car was washed each morning without charge - although a tip is expected. The Lemon Grass Restaurant was so good that we didn't bother to find anywhere else in Plett.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Location: The most enviable location on the Garden Route. At the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, jutting into the ocean - any closer and you would be in it! - as well as the estuary of a large lagoon- no neighbours but nature! Exquisite, unimpeded 180 views (360 from the roof deck) of the vast blue ocean, golden beaches, large lagoon and the imposing Tsitsikamma Mountain Range. Nature all'round, yet not isolated, but only a 2-minute drive from the town centre and its trendy shops.A pristine beach: accessible from the sheltered cove adjacent to the Manor - ideal for swimming in natural water – you may boat across to an unspoiled and usually deserted beach, far from built-up areas, traffic, crowds and noise. Blissful solitude and a complete immersion in nature, with only the sound of white-crested surf tumbling at one’s feet and the calls of a medley of seabirds – a veritable bird sanctuary. Becalming and rejuvenating - the perfect antidote for stress,. With luck you may even find the mysterious and sought-after pansy shell (sand dollar). The Manor: built in classic Georgian style, with an airy double-volume foyer and eleven double bedrooms, most with private patio or balcony. All rooms are decorated in crisp white and en-suite to a shower cubicle with/without bath, and a queen bed or twin beds, TV-hospitality package, free uncapped Wi-Fi, tea/coffee making facilities, safe, fan, heater and hairdryer. The sash windows allow the fresh ocean air straight in. ... more   less
