I just stayed here for 3 nights and I was pleasantly surprised at the friendly staff, cleanliness and ambience of Sunnyside Park Hotel. Beautifully retained character of 19th century made the experience more special. The food was good and well prepared with good variety at the buffet. The Pound and Penny Pub an absolute gem with a real Brittish pub...

Great location, great property, great staff. On arrival I was in awe of the reception area and even the bar area gives you the sense that this hotel had some proper heritage. The rooms are in need of an upgrade as they look a bit tired but otherwise clean and comfy so no real reason not to stay. Fine for...

Beautiful hotel but room facilities could use an upgrade and some maintenance. Service is generally good. Disappointingly there were a number of dishes on the menu in the restaurant that were not available.

Soubouna! I have stayed with this hotel number of times, and have always felt like home :) The ambiance and the view is so amazing. I love the gym side with a pool front. I looked forward to staying here having had lots of fun here in n the 80's and 90's. How disappointed have I been! Checked in amidst a riot by a group of Chinese. Discovered AFTER I had registered that there was no water. Ordered a rump steak from room service and was delivered an inedible chunk of stewing steak. It...

Had a week's stay in the Sunnyside Park Hotel while doing some work in nearby Wits University. As other reviews suggest, the grounds and public areas are very attractive in a traditional manner. Our room in the older section of the hotel was adequate and quiet, but not luxurious. The air conditioning was efficient and there was plenty of hot...

Old style hotel with modern upgrade of rooms which are high quality in the new section, enthusiastic service, beautiful gardens. We used it as our base hotel, for one night stays at front and back end of trips into rural area. We had confusion over rooms (our fault) and hotel was wonderful, trying to solve this in a full hotel,...

Like others, I stayed here for a conference held up the street at Wits University. The hotel was built in 1895 so you should expect some vestiges of that bygone era. Old can be beautiful in itself. My room was in the “new” building/wing and it was very nice, clean and modern. The main restaurant (Milner's) served a good breakfast...

For a convenient business conference venue, relatively close to Johannesburg business areas and to main routes to neighbouring regions and OR Tambo Airport, the Sunnyside Park is a well-preserved legacy of colonial days, with modern facilities. Our conference was well supported, with technology and catering facilities.
