Our stay was welcomed with a lovely 4 course meal at the Roots restaurant with a beautiful table setup with rose petals in a private room with a stunning view. The edamame bean risotto was out of this world. Our breakfast the next morning was also very good.
Our nights stay in the Presidential suite was absolutely lovely and unforgettable. Every little detail that went into preparing the room for us was noticed and the Forum Homini team should be commended for their excellent service and attention to detail. The list of details are endless: beautiful swan arrangement on bed, rose petals, champagne, delicious cheese platter, ice buckets, candles and bath salts and many more.
From friendly and professional service received by the receptionists, to excellent service received by the staff in Roots, we really felt taken care of.
The presidential suite was very clean and well looked after. We loved the fact that every light switch in the unit was labeled and that the unit was well equipped with plugs and enough towels considering there was a lovely outside pool as well. The outside area of the suite was stunning and the heated pool was such a treat.
Our spa treatment that was setup in our room was just as lovely and relaxing.
We cannot wait for our next stay at Forum Homini and plan on coming back soon.
Thank you to the Forum Homini team for their excellent service and hospitality. This is the place to go when you need to relax and unwind and fill your tummy with delicious food.
Best Regards
Melissa and Schalk van Zyl

We had a wonderful romantic experience. The front desk team were extremely friendly and helpful and excited to welcome us and assist. The room was well appointed and extremely comforable and the food was delicous. Our waiter Michael ( I think that is his name) was well informed on the wine and dishes and looked after our table in style. A very unique property. The only thing that I will mention was that the Jacuzzi was set too hot to the extent that we could not use it. Considering this was the selling point of the room it was rather disappointing. Other than that, i would highly recommend the property to friends and family.

This hotel really deserves its five star rating. The attention to detail in everything from where towel hooks are places to providing a small pedestal for your handbag while dining makes this an exceptional experience. The standard luxury room is spacious and the indoor/outdoor shower a real treat. The bed is comfortable with charging points for your electronics installed right next to it. The complementary sherry and nespresso machine for the in-room coffee service is a nice addition. Screened doors and windows keeps the creepy crawlies out. We also booked for dinner at Roots restaurant. what a wonderful experience in fine dining. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable and I can really recommend the wine pairing. There is a small swimming pool with deck chairs where you can relax on a hot day and a short walking trail and picnic spots along the stream. The only small recommendation i would have is that if people stay more than one night, the in room coffee service can be replenished. We will definitely visit again.

The room is the one thing that I enjoyed. The rooms were lovely, comfy, spacious, clean and had everything that we needed - the website pics dont do justice to them. The mosquito nets on doors and windows is a great idea.

However, more needs to be done on the catering. The breakfast was a big disappointment for a 4.5 establishment. It's a set menu which I dont have a problem with, but chocolate was sprinkled on all the dishes, including fruit which ruined the flavour and not great for people who are health conscious or dont each sugar. The waitress who welcomed us didnt even explain what the dishes comprised of which could've helped us make a suitable choice. Only the maltabella tasted good, but the chocolate ruined it. It didnt look like the eggs and french toast were fried in clean oil.

The service on arrival was also not great. The staff seemed impatient that we arrived later in the day and forced us to stop and order meals on the way to our rooms - which was unprofessional. I understand the kitchen was about to close, but we were not aware of this and the hotel should've been informed about this on Thursday, when our meal arrangements were confirmed, or on Saturday before we arrived - afterall they were able to contact us on WhatsApp.

I travelled alone and was made to feel extremely welcome. The security is excellent, the location is beautiful. I saw wildlife every day.
The ‘caves’ are luxurious and have every amenity you could ever need.
‘Roots’ restaurant was wonderful from the 5 course evening meal, the 4 course breakfast and the lunches. The produce was all fresh and beautifully prepared and served. The wine cellar is stocked with a vast selection of wine at reasonable prices. Their cocktails are delicious.
I look forward to returning early next year.

We booked the honeymoon suite after being told the hotel was fully booked, upon arrival we decided to have a cocktail whilst waiting for the room to be ready, I ordered a Mojito, worst I've ever had, sent it back as it had no crushed limes or mint, eventually ordered a beer to be on the safe side. The suite was spacious and comfortable, upon arrival at the room no mention was made of how to operate the DSTV or Aircon. Going to dinner around 18h30 to door entrance into the dining room had no markings on the door to indicate it was closed, my wife hit the door face on, a waiter did apologize for the mishap, after sitting in the bar trying to order a glass of bubbly and wine, were told that they don't serve by the glass.....astounding as in any restaurant we frequent they always have a serving by the glass. Annoyed by the incident that occurred I went to see the duty manager on reception who advised they had run out of markers for the doors.....really masking tape would have avoided the incident. They did eventually sort out the issue but not once from that moment until we left did anybody enquire about my wife's condition or offer a complementary bottle of wine to apologize for the incident. The food at Roots was enjoyable but the plating left much to be desired, it was clear that the food coming out the kitchen was not been inspected before serving as one meal had components missing, overall 3/5. as one review said it was like a conveyor belt of courses being served with no chef or maitre d enquiring about the meal. Won't be rushing back in a hurry,

We have been to Forum Homini & Roots restaurant about 7 or 8 times in the last few years and have stayed in every room they offer. Each and every visit has been exceptional. The accomodation is superb and the service is outstanding. The food at Roots is excellent. The spa therapists are punctual, friendly and very professional. Morne and his team really know how to make you feel special and will go the extra mile to make your experience memorable. Money well spent and well deserved! 5 stars.

We made the booking through Lekkeslaap for 1 night stay on a Sunday. We were not aware that Forum Homini don't offer the 5-course dinner on Sunday's, but lunch is offered instead. We received a phone call from the venue informing us but at this stage it was already after 12h00 on the Sunday. On arrival our host, Morne served us complimentary cocktails and offered to serve us the 5-course dinner anyway to make up for the inconvenience. He also upgraded our room to the Presidential suite at no extra charge and gave us the option to be served dinner in our suite. I can seriously recommend this room (although priced quite high). We were no longer upset and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back and will seriously consider booking the Presidential suite again. Thanks for going the extra mile to make us feel welcome Morne and team! Well done!

My husband and I needed a quick getaway for a our anniversary and this place did not disappoint. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the room is clean and well kept, we had a jacuzzi which was totally worth the extra charge. My husband was very impressed that there were memory foam pillows available (even though we always bring our own anyways). The food at Roots was exceptional, its worth the drive to just visit the restaurant for the afternoon. Probably one of the more affordable fine dining experiences you will find and really so delicious. We will certainly be back

We enjoyed our stay, there were however a few disappointing aspects.
On the second day we did not have water and could not bathe and clean ourselves.
The food was also extremely disappointing. The meals in the evening were extremely heavy and it was difficult to finish everything. The summer menu, I feel was better balanced. The breakfast was very disappointing. The full English part of the breakfast was excessively oily and it made me feel sick afterwards. A 5 star chef definitely did not cook this meal. All in all, our stay was not worth the money..

Response from Morne Meiring, General Manager at Forum Homini Hotel
Responded Aug 17, 2024
Dear Safari42401814869 Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We take pride in giving our guests an amazing experience and we apologize that we failed in providing you with the same experience which you so dearly deserve. While there are many yardsticks one likes to use to measure performance and standards in this industry, the one which we always strive for is that of consistency. There is absolutely no excuse for this unpleasant behaviour, and I can ensure you that since Forum opened their doors again in July 2020, we’ve only had good reviews from our guests. Since our re-opening in July 2020 with a reduced staff compliment, we had to adapt to a different way of doing things, and to date we feel we are mostly successful in doing so, but feedback like yours are always welcomed as I believe we need to use all reviews to better our service to our valued guests. I firstly would like to apologize for the bad experience you have had with us - that was inexcusable. It is not easy to have heard that such a special occasion was so disappointing for you. I can give you many valid reasons for the disappointing stay, but it will never justify the fact that your special occasion was ruined. From the Forum Homini and roots restaurant team, please accept our sincerest apologies for the service that you had to endure during your stay. Looking forward to hearing from you. Kind Regards Morne Meiring General Manager
