We found this gem quite by accident. And what a find. Amazing staff, clean and comfortable safari tent, amazing food and total peace and quiet. No better place to wind down and totally relax. Loved the bird life. Only one suggestion - putting a coffee station in the tents. Loved the place and would definitely return.
My husband and I needed a break from life and Amadwala lodge did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived Basil and David were warm and attentive. We each had a massage which was out of this world! Dinner was then set up for us in our room and a fire lit. The 3 course meal was absolutely delicious! We are so grateful to have been treated to a wonderful stay. Thank you Basil and David.
When was it the last time after a visit into a Restaurant, that I could not stop talking about the food, as it was such a wonderful experience, that I hoped, I could have it the next day, and than the day after? The Amadwala Restaurant in Roodepoort served us with most tasty, exciting, Charbonnade I can remember! Fresh Tuna, Salmon, Ostrich, Pork Fillet, Chicken, Berries, Mushrooms, Spanish Olives, Capers, with the most tasty sauces one can imagine. Being a Swiss, and Charbonnade is one of our National dishes, I could not be more happy and so was my wife who I never saw digging in like this before! We took the ecommended wine, Morgenstern Sangiovese, a brilliant choice, as its an Italien style red wine, perfectly rounding up the most amazing food experience! Truly speaking, my words can not much the food!…
its a very beautiful and peaceful place, beautiful and clean challets with an private outdoor area which is big enough, custom made furniture, very friendly staff members i must say thier food is average, they need to improve on it especialy the breakfast its a bit dry and limited however everything is just perfect about this place especial if u want some rest away from home and not be active because activities around this place are like 20-30 minutes away which was not a distance for us to drive to the locations with amenities
My husband and I spent last weekend at Amadwala Lodge for our anniversary. 1. We booked the safari tent, it was my first safari tent experience and I must say it was amazing. The tend was clean well equipped, more than I expected, the beds were super comfortable, the electric blanket helped during the cold rainy Friday night. The only thing is that the tents are too close to each other which means one can hear everything that happens next door, the big comfy bed has two 3/4 duvet covers which is a bit inconvenient esp if you are booked as a couple. Saturday night, there was a huge dog on the property that that sounded upset and kept us up almost the entire Night. However I absolutely loved the Bush experience and that there is no TV, the little touches in the tent made it a relaxing and romantic, and feel like a sweet escape. 2. There is very good wifi in the rooms and around the lodge for those who can't live away from the net. 3. At the reception we were well recieved by Basil and Mpho, they were helpful and responded to all our quiries before and during our stay. 4. Lucky one of the waiters made our experience at the restaurant very special, he is so helpful and hospitable. He really goes an extra mile. Mabo who is a waitress was also very friendly, and helpful. How can one forget, David who was our barman for the weekend, very well spoken, friendly, knowledgeable and makes the best cocktails!!! 5. The pool area, restaurant and bar are all in one place which makes it a fun and convenient hang out spot, however, I would recommend another pool and entertainment area away from the bar and restaurant for those who are conservative and also it gets a bit awkward when when one wants to relax at the bar while there are people having a splash. 6. My husband and I stayed for the Sunday Spit Braai at 1, which also gave us an extended check out time which was lovely because it meant we could have a relaxed Sunday morning. All I can say about the spit Braai is that it was worth delaying our almost 4 hours drive back home!! The meat was delicious!! Complements to the Chef!! 5. The lodge was a bit hard to find because there isn't any signage leading there, we drive from nelspruit it was already dark when we arrived at the lodge and there was a storm brewing, we would have been lost had we not had good GPS, but once we got there, it felt like a best kept secrete hide out. All in all, I give amadwala a huge thumbs up, I would definitely recommend it for a relaxing Bush experience and I would definitely also go back.…
