Stayed here 4 nights in a huge suite, #17. Beautiful interiors, gorgeous grounds and great food. We stopped here on our way to safari near Kruger to acclimatize to the time zone, we slept a lot and weren't disturbed. Room service is quick and efficient. Breakfasts are tasty and plentiful.

Quirky little place, very close to Sandton but in it's own world which has the constant reminder of being in Africa. Traditional, authentic atmosphere and décor with very spacious rooms, lovely outdoor area and decent gym. I do feel the breakfast is a let down but they everything else about right.

I enjoyed the magnificent bedrooms with all the extras to make one's stay exceptional. The staff were friendly yet professional and the food was extremely good. The one small exception was the rolls of smoked salmon on the breakfast layout which were definitely tired and crusty. The pool was inviting and the whole garden beautifully kept. well worth another visit.

Beautiful venue & facilities do not make up for bad attitude of staff. I wanted to book a venue for a business breakfast and waited 20 minutes for someone from banqueting to attend to me. I was told that "this is a boutique hotel" and people who wanted to use the facilities "must pay". This happened when I asked about...

Business traveller. Tired of the normal, i chose this. Was nice. Spacious in the chateau. Clean. Loved the sherry. For my colleague and me it was a delight, a refreshing change to the normal brand hotels. Breakfast not impressive at all though, bit boring Outside dining was lovely and cosy, but some dude laughed so loud it got annoying, some...

We stayed here before we departed on a Safari. Like most boutique hotels in Johannesburg it is located in a neighborhood. You will need to pass through a security gate to the main entrance. The main section is beautiful and rich with history - there are pictures on the wall of President Jimmy Carter meeting Mandela at the hotel. The...

We stayed here for 2 nights before embarking on a safari and the hotel was a wonderful transition from real life to vacation life. My suite was enormous with lovely classic furnishings and a small verandah with a view over the gardens, lawn and pool. The beds were very nice with lots of pillows and curtains. The bathroom included a...

As part of a tour, we stayed here on two separate occasions. The public rooms are good, the decor is eclectic but somehow works. The food is good; we ate several meals at the hotel. There were a lot of locals here for Sunday lunch, events, and dinners. The hotel is, I think, a little isolated and not easy to...
