Great location, if you don't want to be by the beach. Close to bars and safe enough to to walk to for a meal. Really helpful staff, nothing was ever too much trouble. The rooms are large and good showers. At the moment they only serve breakfast, so you have to go out for dinner or they will order you...

I have been staying at the Quarters (initially in Avondale Rd but that has closed) Hotels since 2010 and it has always been a very pleasant experience. It is located close to Florida Rd so you can walk to go out and eat and down the road from the two stadiums, the beach, Suncoast Casino and major arteries in and...

Stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is made up of a little cluster of old-Durban Victorian (Edwardian?) houses that have been expertly combined into a hotel with a central courtyard for parking and access to rooms, restaurant and reception. Excellent breakfasts were included in my stay. Staff were solicitous and friendly. Room itself was comfortable and attractive. The hotel location...

I spent a week at the Quarters while on business. This hotel has the feel of a large B&B since it has limited service and is laid out like a collection of several homes with rooms available. It is centrally located and just a short uber or cab ride from the major attractions. Pluses are that the staff are very...

The hotel is nice with a wonderful and accommodating staff. Everyone is kind and helpful and remembers your name from the first day. The rooms are okay and spacious. But, on the downside it is not on the beach (which may be a plus for some), it does not currently have a restaurant so there is only breakfast (no lunch,...

Quarters Florida has been my hotel of choice for the past 8 years. I come to Durban 4times a year on business and it was once a beautifull boutique hotel with great service, gorgeous food and lovely rooms. Unfortunately, for the past year, it has been quite clear how they are consistently declining in standards across all service levels, to...

The Location is very good, whilst on a busy intersection, the hotel room was very quiet. The room was spacious, well appointed, clean and very well serviced. The personnel at the front desk were very friendly as were the restaurant and bar staff. The Breakfast menu covered all of my favourites - especially Lola's breakfast.

This hotel is just too quaint! The Victorian style architecture is really beautiful and the location is perfect as you are in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Florida Road, a very safe street, which is important in Durban. You can also walk easily to the beach front in perhaps 20 minutes. If you happen to get sick...

I was in Durban for a week on business, and Quarters was an ideal place to stay. The staff were very hospitable and friendly, willing to accommodate any requirements I had, and taking an interest in my trip. The breakfasts were delicious, and the terrace was a lovely place to have a drink in the evening. A very calm and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In 1999, Durban businessman and entrepreneur Robert Maingard had an inspiration to convert four Victorian homes on Durban’s Florida Road in the suburb of Morningside into a luxury boutique hotel. Restored to their former glory, these beautiful buildings were transformed into “Quarters Hotel Florida Road.” Since opening its doors in 1997, Quarters Hotel Florida Road has become the hotel of choice for many guests who regularly return to stay at Quarters. In 2008 an ideal property became available on Avondale Road, a short (walking) distance from the original Quarters and the decision was taken to convert the property into “Quarters Hotel Avondale Road.” Again meticulous restoration was done to its original Edwardian architecture. All the luxury and outstanding service synonymous with the Quarters Brand is apparent in Quarters Hotel Avondale Road. ... more   less
