We've been regular visitors at Smith's Cottage when we come in to Durban, and the service has always been exceptional. Pat and Keith are very kind and accommodating hosts. Though it is a backpacker's hostel, staying at Smith's Cottage feels much more like being a guest at someone's home. Pat and Keith have been in Durban for over 20 years...

Smiths Cottage is much more than a Back Packers. They provide loads of facilities and services for all ages, for businesses and private. Even from my first communication with Pat and Keith Smith I received helpful advise to ensure my every question was answered with good and practical advice before arrival. The facilities were clean, bedding changed regularly, clothes washed...

I came here for one night on my way to the Drakensberg Mountains and felt like I was staying with long lost relatives! Pat and Keith were so friendly and helpful and I even had a cup of tea offered before I'd crossed the threshold. Such a cosy welcoming place and perfect for anyone wanting a bit of peace and...

This is nice, clean place, with friendly hosts, who know a lot about the city and surroundings. It has a family atmosphere. This is not a party hostel. It is a good place for travelers. It has a swimming pool. Shops are nearby, although your own transport (a car) would be helpful. It is well maintained.

When we came to Durban after a one week safari-trip we felt home immediately because of Keith and Pat. They were just such lovely people to be with! They brought us everywhere with their car, gave good information about where to go and what to avoid and always had a smile. The cabin was very cosy, it had all we...
