We loved Wilderness Manor - it is beautifully yet comfortably furnished , the owners Gerald and JD are attentive yet not over-bearing - their knowledge of the area is excellent so they can direct you to exactly the right areas/activities you are keen on (in our case a good restaurant). Their attention to details is amazing - the bedroom and...

Gerald and JD wrote the book on hospitality! They ensured our stay was perfect and we felt honoured to have stayed at Wilderness Manor. Breakfast was delicious. JD's Bircher Museli is unbelievable. So creamy, my record is three helpings 'before' my cooked breakfast! Gerald is such a hive of information. He shows you the routes to travel and gives you...

If you are used to traditional British Guest Houses then Wilderness Manor is a revelation. A delightful, spacious house filled with African artifacts and antiques with a comfortable lounge and billiard room. The bedrooms are very spacious, individually furnished and charcaterful bathrooms. We had lovely views over the lagoon with the sea in the distance. The owners Gerald and JD...

We stayed two nights here as part of our holiday to South Africa. They were the best two nights we had on our holiday. Your hosts Gerald and JD are exceptional hosts. A drink is offered to you when you arrive and they take the time to talk to you and explain the area and what is available to experience....

The owners have been very open-minded, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was sensational, everything was freshly prepared and the room spent a wonderful atmosphere. With the lounges I felt displaced in the colonial era of film scenes. A beautiful memory. The house was situated in front of the Wilderness lagune and offers several opportunities for extensive walks.

We have just returned from a 14 night tour in South Africa, of which 2 were spent in Wilderness Manor - we stayed in 5 other guest houses/lodges. This was the best. Gerald and JD made us very welcome even though we arrived early. Their friendliness, helpfulness and generousity was exceptional. A comprehensive briefing on activities - with maps marked for...

The attention to your comfort, although unobtrusive, is really top notch. From a welcoming drink on arrival, to advice on what to see and do, where to eat etc. , all in a friendly manner, is very helpful. Towels are changed and room sorted while you are out and breakfast is a spread any 5 star hotel could be proud...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Almost halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth on the internationally renowned Garden Route and nestled between mountains and golden beaches, you will find one of South Africa's most favoured holiday destinations, the seaside village of Wilderness. Wilderness Manor is an elegant and refined guest house overlooking the beautiful Wilderness Lagoon, in the heart of the scenic village of Wilderness. Step out of the front door and cross the road onto the boardwalk for an easy and safe stroll to beaches, restaurants and village shops. Relax in the spacious guest lounge or reading lounge, with superb views from the balconies overlooking the lagoon. Wilderness Manor is luxuriously decorated in an African colonial style with fine oriental rugs, heirlooms, antiques, art and collectables which contribute to a refined and stylish ambience. Retire to the serenity of four stylish en-suite bedrooms: three luxury and spacious lagoon facing rooms on the second floor with superb views of the lagoon and one standard garden room on the ground floor with a private garden / patio. Look forward to our Continental buffet and English breakfast served in our breakfast room, opening onto a sunny balcony overlooking the indigenous forest where the Knysna Loerie often comes to feed... Whether you are passionate about water sports, hiking, extreme adventure or animal encounters, the Garden Route and Klein Karoo has something for you.
