I've stayed at the Protea Hotel Centurion a few times and have always been satisfied with above average service and facilities. During my last stay, however, from 27 October to 1 November 2015, I found the experience extremely unpleasant. Neither the service nor the facilities was to blame, but the smell eminating from the rotting mass of mud and algae...

This hotel was a very pleasant stay with just a few niggling points. It is very well placed right next door to Centurion Mall (200 shops and many restaurants, some good ones too). The rooms were clean and comfortable and a very comfortable bed too. A good ala carte menu and a good level of choice at breakfast. The round...

I have always had a terrible experience at Protea Hotels. Their standard of customer care is dismal. I had the terrible misfortune of booking at this particular hotel given as a complimentary visit after my disastrous Cape visit, at the Fire and Ice Cape Town, when somebody walked into my hotel room at 12 midnight demanding I leave the room....

My perspective as single male regular world parts traveller. Stayed in double room. Hosts hospitable. Private bathrooms, towels and shampoo. All clean and tidy. Slight stench from lake/ dry river. Middle of the road all in all. Access, great. Central with Gautrain very near {5 minutes} It was pressed on me all guests should use the free taxi service to...

Most of the rooms are okay. The rooms facing the lake have a stench and when housekeeping cleans them, they leave the windows open and you come back and find mosquitoes all over the room. But their lifts are always not working. The staff is friendly and accommodative.

I had heard good things about this hotel but I think it was given too much credit. The rooms are okay and the staff were accomodating, but the service was just so slow. Clean and comfortable. Meal prices on the high side. Breakfast buffet was average though on a par with most basic hotel fare. Centrally located. Staff friendly. Avoid side of hotel facing road as rush hour traffic noise can get irritating.
