We, a dutch family of 4 stayed here for 4 nights als our base for visits to Kruger park. The camp is 8km's from main road, meaning it is quiet, which is a good thing. Small camp existing of 5 tents. We had full-service, meaning Breakfast and diner is server B&B style. Nicely served under and old army tent roof...

If you are looking for a rustic place in the bush this is ideal. The accommodation is basic but clean. Your bush kitchen has a small fridge, gas stove, crockery and small sink so ideal for self-catering. No power but there is a point to charge your phones. No fans so could be hot on those summer nights but for...

Had a great stay. We had the feeling we were in the bush. We had electricity - solar all the way and used an inverter when we wanted to charge batteries. Jean-Marc was a great host. Comfortable, warm & cosy tent, all cooking utensils available.

My wife and I spent 2 nights at Calao over the Easter long weekend. The camp is not within a nature reserve, but being surrounded by big 5 game reserves we spent our evenings and mornings hearing the not too distant sounds of lion, hyena and baboons. The Kruger Park Orpen Gate is only a 35 minute drive from Calao,...
