Stayed in Lower Sabie from the 05/02 to 09/02. The room was well maintained and well serviced. The camp however would do well to keep the gardens better maintained. The shop and restaurant was great with great service. The biggest disappointment was all the day trip or the so called safari operators that park where they feel like and over...

Nice camp and GREAT mugg and bean restaurant with beautiful views over looking the river. We weren't super happy with our accommodations, but part of it was our fault. Spend a little more to have a better place in our opinion.

I first visited Lower Sabie in 2006 and fell in love. 11 years later I was worried that my return would be underwhelming but it didn't disappoint. Whilst the facilities are tired (rooms smelt damp and restaurant is now sadly a franchise) the soul and much of the character remains. A superb base to explore an area abundant in wildlife...

We have stayed in the safari tents before but these were already booked months ahead. We stayed in a cottage on the riverfront this time. The river views were wonderful and we could see water buffalo, and hear hippos and jackal through out the night. The actual cottage is very poor - it faces another cottage so there is no...

We did not stay at Lower Sabie this time around. But did stop here for a breakfast on the river. What a terrible let down. Mediocre food, mediocre service. Seats without covers, dust and cobwebs every where. Is this really the best South Africa has to offer in our biggest and most famous National Park? Give it to the people...

Amazing location for the safari tents, right on the river Sabie. The tents themselves are fairly basic and in need of the renovation I understand the Park is about to do, but the view from the deck of the tents outweighed everything else. I sat drinking tea watching hippos and crocs whilst the sun rose across the river. We booked...

Kruger Park is amazing and the location of this rest camp is perfect, however the " luxury tent" as it is called was very ordinary indeed. It was well over 50 degrees C inside when we arrived on a warm day. The room is air-conditioned by a noisy old wall mounted unit which needed several hours to make the room...

This is a well organised food site by the Mug and Bean group. Standard food for this group but well cooked and presented. My son and his wife who were with me said they would come to stay. It was the holiday Monday but the staff coped extremely well. You realise that there is going to be a delay when...

Here is an option that is both comfortable and new, so nothing is "holey" or broken. The luxury tents are currently far better than the regular "safari tents" that are to be refurbished in the coming months. We found ours to be well equipped with a fully kitted kitchenette, a proper fridge/freezer (not a bar fridge), a dining table inside...

For the price you pay for accommodation, it is a little tired and needs upgrading, the area along the Letaba River and surrounding game drives make this a good place to stay. Saw plenty of Hippo, Elephants, Kudu, Giraffe, Wilderbeast and lots of birds.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Lower Sabie graces the banks of the Sabie River, one of the few perennial rivers to flow through the Kruger National Park. Visitors cannot but feel soothed by the view towards the river and the Lebombo Mountains beyond. In this rest camp, the bounty and plenitude of nature are very evident, eloquently symbolised by the most conspicuous of its numerous trees, the mighty sycamore fig, which provides generously for the livelihood of many birds and insects. Not only do these giants produce fruit at least twice a year, but different trees produce fruit at different times, extending the gifts of life over many months. Watching the endless procession of animals coming to drink at the Sabie River establishes a sense of one's own place in the eternal cycle. ... more   less
