Sightings & Safari - 5/5 - We were lucky to see 4 full grown lions right outside the camp on the night drive..sheer luck I guess..they were sitting/strolling just 100mts away from the camp gate, right in the middle of the tar road. Food - Best to carry own meat, food & drinks..there are resturants but mugg & beans -...

The Satara Restcamp is in quite good condition, and reasonably well-maintained. The restaurant is now a Mugg & Bean, and a huge improvement on what was there before. It has a well-stocked shop with a good range of merchandise including fresh produce. Our accommodation (two huts) was OK, and had a with fridge (behind secure wire door), and hotplate and...

satara was our last stop in the kruger and of the 3 camps were we could find a booking for camping, the biggest. i would say that the ablution blocks might not have been enough for the big camp, no waterhole here, a well stocked shop and the first camp we found that now has a mug and bean and...

old fashioned and lots of flies in the kitchen which needs an update, lots of space and great surroundings outside. Wildlife aplenty. Needs a revamp. This accommodation houses six people, better to go for smaller, newer accommodation in my opinion. Good rest camp with great mug and bean restaurant and gift shop, pool etc...

Satara has it all! We saw all but the leopard from the big 5 within 1 hour of arriving, not to mention lots of beautiful birds! The night game drive was awesome! We found a pride of lions gorging themselves on some unlucky wildebeest, several hyaenas and jackals too. This camp has the best restaurant of all the ones we...

I went there with my wife and my 4 years old son. We stayed in a BD3B bungalow, that is for 3 people. The bungalow was renewed so everything was good. On our first night, about 4:00 am, a lion roaring just outside of Satara woke us up. It was amazing!!!! I will be back, definitely!!!

Satara rest camp might not be as big or have as many amenities as Skukuza rest camp, but its location makes it one of the best rest camps. As it is centrally located in Kruger park, your game viewing experience is vast and varied. We saw almost all the big 5 only missing the leopard. And had an amazing night...

This was a nice and quiet rest camp. Although booked full we did not find it crowded. The cabins are clean and well maintained. Facilities were good. Staff was helkful. We had to book 2 cabins as we were 3, and no 3bed cabins remained. It was not possible to order (and indeed place) and extra ben in the cabin.

Always one of my favourite areas for game but I don't really like the camp layout and general ambiance. Best roads to visit are s100. Best hide for birding sweni hide sometimes better than lake panic.best waterhole s12 s40 junction, although the last time I visited it was dry. Back to the camp, it's always just ok but u just...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Satara is a busy camp, and not without reason. It is situated in an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and the animals plentiful and diverse. The camp itself has a rustic charm, with the bulk of the accommodation set out in a series of circles. Satara is well wooded and the bird-life is prolific. At night the clink of fruit bats is fused with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. The calls of owls and nightjars add to the symphony that is punctuated intermittently by the whoop of hyena, the screech of jackal and the roars of lion. ... more   less
