I went there with my wife and my 4 years old son. We stayed in a BD3B bungalow, that is for 3 people. The bungalow was renewed so everything was good. On our first night, about 4:00 am, a lion roaring just outside of Satara woke us up. It was amazing!!!! I will be back, definitely!!!

Satara rest camp might not be as big or have as many amenities as Skukuza rest camp, but its location makes it one of the best rest camps. As it is centrally located in Kruger park, your game viewing experience is vast and varied. We saw almost all the big 5 only missing the leopard. And had an amazing night...

This was a nice and quiet rest camp. Although booked full we did not find it crowded. The cabins are clean and well maintained. Facilities were good. Staff was helkful. We had to book 2 cabins as we were 3, and no 3bed cabins remained. It was not possible to order (and indeed place) and extra ben in the cabin.

Always one of my favourite areas for game but I don't really like the camp layout and general ambiance. Best roads to visit are s100. Best hide for birding sweni hide sometimes better than lake panic.best waterhole s12 s40 junction, although the last time I visited it was dry. Back to the camp, it's always just ok but u just...

Satara is a truly magical place: right in the middle of the Kruger park, far enough from any gates, feels like an island in the middle of the bush. We stayed 3 nights in a BD2V bungalow, which is on the perimeter. Accommodation is basic, but very clean. It also includes a kitchenette with utensils, and a braai which is...

Satara is in a terrific location for wildlife. Although a big camp it has a number of game drive options, North on tar, South on tar, East on S100 and many great areas to the west. The rooms are arranged in large circles. I really wouldn't want to stay here unless there are no other options. Nothing to look at...

I've read very mixed reviews and as a South African I can tell you that the Kruger Park and particularly Satara are simply wonderful - the place is clean well presented - the shops and restaurants are perfect. If you're looking for an authentic and safari experience this is it! The accommodation is basic but very comfortable all round a...

I stayed at Satara for 2 nights in a perimeter bungalow BD2V. Satara is a great area for wildlife (especially big cats), with many roads available for self-drive. I also went on a Sunset guided drive. On this drive I saw: A big male lion on H7 near Nsemani Lake, a lioness with 3 cubs on H7, hyena with pups...

When visiting Satara, try and get a unit overlooking the bush with its animals passing by. The beds were comfortable and offer the best reading light for bedtime reading. The appliances even included a microwave, a big plus factor. There is an abundance of game in close proximity and this Rest Camp rates as one of the best for seeing...

Our second camp at Kruger and it was just as good. Your cooking amenities are on the balcony outside and it was lovely so sit out under the stars for dinner. All you could want in accommodation to enjoy your safaris. Little owls in the trees outside, hear the lions roar at night.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Satara is a busy camp, and not without reason. It is situated in an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and the animals plentiful and diverse. The camp itself has a rustic charm, with the bulk of the accommodation set out in a series of circles. Satara is well wooded and the bird-life is prolific. At night the clink of fruit bats is fused with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. The calls of owls and nightjars add to the symphony that is punctuated intermittently by the whoop of hyena, the screech of jackal and the roars of lion. ... more   less
