We stayed in Gumtree Cottage (Cottage with two bedrooms, sleeps 6 people). The furniture is very old and the concrete floor is painted green in some areas which does not make it feel very cosy. You have to bring your own towels and toilet paper and do not forget to get the pin code for the entrance. Saw a ghost...

Perfect getaway with amazing view from the stone cottage! More likely than not black jack will be there to greet you in the morning. The hiking trails and natural watering hole and all the animals make for a perfect place to visit.

Spent a lovely weekend at Bateleur nature reserve. Somehow our booking got messed up and was never received but Wouter made a plan and put us up in a very cosy one bedroom unit on the reserve. Accommodation very basic but the view from the room was spectacular. We did lots of hiking, nights were so quite and the stars...

This is a very rustic yet peaceful place. My family and i booked there for the weekend, as it was a lot of us we booked the cottage as well as the large unit. We got very discouraged as we had to travel along a very long gravel road which felt like forever to get there. Eventually getting there after...

We went to Bateleur Nature Reserve to go hiking and there was quite a bit of it. It was our first time self catering in South Africa and we almost got it right. We only forgot a few items. We booked ourselves into a larger unit (Mispel) for only two people as the unit we wanted was booked. For those...

Okay, NOTE: If you like luxury, being pampered, attended to and like a restaurant and spa nearby - THIS IS NOT FOR YOU! Simple as that. If, however, you are interested in walking, seeing a crystal clear night sky, listen to the wild animals at night and enjoy peace and tranquility - THEN THIS IS FOR YOU! Right, now that...

We have just had a fantastic stay at Bateleur. The hiking, mountain biking, rock pools and general relaxation levels were fantastic and the reserve is very special. Accomodation is relatively basic, but we needed for nothing. Wouter made our stay an absolute pleasure.

We had a dreadful stay at Bateleur farmhouse unit. There were so many safety hazards, like free lying electric cables and no railings on high balconies, having to use a screwdriver to switch on the oven. Not in the least way child friendly and there's isn't even one bar of cell phone signal, so the fact that it says it...

A selection of rustic but very clean, comfortable and convenient accommodation on a beautiful nature reserve. Self-catering with solar power. The accommodations are widely spread so that you have a feeling of peace and privacy. The atmosphere is wonderful. A number of hikes/walks are offered and there is a bird hide. Strongly recommended for nature lovers.
