We stayed for 3 nights and loved every moment. It was relaxing and exactly what we needed to get away from the big city! The welcome, really great food, fantastic bird spotting including a Trumpeter Hornbill, and super view was stunning. There is so much to do around Chestnut Country Lodge as well. Thanks for the great time that we...

When arriving to CCL, it was very difficult to access after the rains (dirt road), but when you're finally there it's a lovely place with a beautiful view and a nice pool. Depending on who of the personel you talk to the service varies from friendly and competent to completely uninterested. The rooms are fine, but lacks air conditioning and...

Thank you for your review We do have a spectacular view we are so very blessed with the view and our location. Special Places are always hidden away.. ;-) In the raining season ( September - April ) our road can be a challenge but NOT that you cannot drive it.. The top part of our road is always in...

I considered quite a few options for our stay on New years eve and in the end I am glad I decided on Chestnut Country Lodge. The place is set away from the main road and although the gravel road leading to the lodge needs some attention it is still ok for any vehicle. The rooms are next to each...

Thank you so much for your review. I was so great having you come and stay. Our road only gets graded 4 times a year and with all the rain... well we are always grateful that the top portion of the road is always derivable. It is also good that you have brought it up as when you book we...

We stayed two nights. The owner was helpful and food was good. Many people comment about the view but if you look carefully you see it is all being clear cut for citrus or nut crops. The owner sold some of her property and it had been stripped bare directly below. She promotes birds on her site but with the...

Thank you so much for your review. We appreciate all feed back. Yes I agree with your comment. The South African Government is working towards insuring all unused rural land is turned into productive working farms. To this end we have sold 30 hectors of our 50 hector property to the farmer below us. All there crops are exported to...

Unfortunately this was just a stop-over for 1 night, because we loved the place. Very relaxed, with a good room, friendly staff and excellent food and whine. There is a nice swimming pool too and the view is beautiful.

Chestnut Country Lodge was an excellent recommendation from a South African friend for one night of being spoiled after a superb but expectedly tiring time in Kruger National Park. We exchanged the long days of driving and animal spotting for very comfortable spacious rooms overlooking a beautiful valley, a refreshing swim and an excellent dinner. We traveled from Lower Sabie...

Luxury room.? No TV No Safe Bathroom badly maintained. Packed breakfast pack was a joke. Only thing that resembled breakfast was the boiled eggs. Pestered with dinner menu at breakfast. Had the dinner on the first night and waited ages between courses and still hungry afterwards. Good job we had food in the car.
