Bitterpan is remote, beautiful, overlooking a large salt pan, wonderful to see the oryx walking across the flat expanse to the waterhole 100m in front, and below, the 6 2-bed cabins. We loved it, the silence (no electricity), communal kitchen fridges kept our drinks cold, shower and rooms were more than adequate, for a place so remote. The resident overseer...

This was our 2nd night in the park, we left Mata Mata and headed to Nosob to the reception. We booked in with the reception, re fueled our Ford Ranger 4x4. Reception opened the gate as its a 4x4 access only. We have had several visits to the KTP but never visited this area of the park before. My husband...

Second time I have stayed at Bitterpan. This time I stayed for 2 nights in Sept and was impressed with the recent renovations. The rooms and bathrooms are less tacky and the kitchen seems to be much improved. The fridges seem to run on solar power or at least were a lot colder than my last stay. This is a...

Bitterpan consist of 4 units - like all other wilderness camps in the park. However it has a communal kitchen area. Each unit hat a private braai area, toilet and shower. The toilet/shower is separated from the bedroom. Negativ: The sun is heating the bedroom up in the afternoon and there is no shadow on the private veranda. Positiv: You...

A must if you like the excitement and thrill of staying in an un-fenced camp surrounded by lions and other wild animals. The rooms and bathrooms are of very high standard (much better than expected from a place in the middle of the Kalahari only accessible by 4x4 vehicles). Our host was very accommodating and friendly. The communal kitchen area...

Totally enjoyed this remote camp. The drive there from Nossob and over to Craig Lochart waterhole where very enjoyable and great fun giving you a feeling of being alone on the planet. The camp is clean and tidy with good kitchen facilities. There was not much wildlife at the pan when we stayed as alot of rain had fallen. Accommodation...

Such an intimate and great place. Not for the faint hearted! So many animals came evry close, another guest said the night before she had shone her torch on a leopard that was around 15m away from her. So probably tread with caution. In the morning of our stay we spotted a cheetah on the pan, which apparently had never...

One reaches this remote, self catering bush camp via a sandy dunefield road. A 4 x 4 vehicle is a definate requirement. The rooms are canvas tents and a seperate, private bathroom is allocated to each tent. The camp is situated next to a salt pan and a watering hole. It is extremely secluded indeed. there is no fence around...

This remote self catering camp is reached by a beautiful 53 km dune road with some exciting dune climbing. The camp itself comprises 4 units on a hill overlooking Bitterpan a salt lake, quite a bit of game activity but but not at the level of the camps on the dry river beds. Again as with the other Wilderness Camps...

African bush at its best! Stayed for two nights in December 2013. Had lions surrounding the camp at night and the most amazing kalahari views with gemsbok, ostrich and jackals roaming the pan. The 4x4 route to get there is an amazing experience. Amenities are excellent.

“There are only 4 tents so you have to book in advance. You need to take your own water, food and wood. There is a game ranger at the camp. You have to take gear for camping even though beds are provided. They are single beds. You can only sleep two in a tent”
