We had a great time here, the safari guides were very informative and we were lucky to see lots of animals including lions, elephants, rhino, and even a leopard which was fantastic. The accommodation is good but it was so hot in the upstairs sleeping area, no air con and the fan doesn't make much difference. We missed having wifi...

My family and I love to start the New Year in a quiet space away from it all, so we always go camping the first week of every New year and this year was no different. We particularly like to camp at Pilanesburg Bakgatla gate due to its good stands size, (electric and non electric), it's clean ablution facilities (toilet...

Sadly - Very Neglected. On the first day we had no water....and the air conditioning did not work.. no sleep... it was just too hot. The pool could not be used as it was green... The second day we had no hot water... and so it went on. Bath mats that one would normally throw away... Thin, frayed and stained.....

Pros: An ideal place for true vacation. Very quiet, we had restful nights. A very safe resort. We saw the big 5 animals in one evening trip. Cons: The big swimming pool was not functioning. data/Internet signal in the resort was very poor.

If you want a place to stay in comfort but in the bush experience I strongly recommend the chalets in Bakgatla. The chalets are designed on the edge of the resort so that you can hear all the sounds of the wild at night. The chalets are self-catering but everything you need is there. The fridge worked very well wich...

Third time camping at Bakgatla (Feb 2016), and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Sure, it was out-of-season and not as packed as holidays would be, but the ablutions and scullery (we camped on the electrified tent sites, and used ablution block 4) were spotless and seemed newly renovated, with all fittings and trimmings fully functional. The staff were all friendly...

Our chalet was neat and clean. It was equipped with the necessary appliances and crockery to make your stay comfortable. The braai area hidden beneath the trees and next to the shrubs created the perfect ambience for a stay in the bush. It is an older camp, so if you expect luxury, bells and whistles, the better option will be...

The resort while well situated within the Pilanesberg Game reserve is old and out dated. The cost of the self catering rooms are much higher than they should be at around R1500 per night for 2 people. The rooms are at best basic with dirty bed linen and tears in the sheets. The restaurant is average with your run of...

We had extremely noisy neighbours till the early hours of the morning whilst at Bakgatla which was handled extremely poorly by management (their solution was to move us, not the trouble makers). I had to get up thrice during the night to get security to do something about it. The trouble makers had day visitors visiting until 2am, too many...

We went camping here for our anniversary. It was out of season and is a lot quieter than Manyane camp which is catered more for families. Staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to help us, including maintenance, restaurant and front staff. Getting into the pilansberg park is a breeze as the gate is just next to...
