Hi RainmanMumbai.
A car really is not necessary when staying here as there is 2 reliable taxicab companies that we recommend to our guests for visiting the city or table mountain etc.
Taking the bus to town is a bit of a logistical nightmare as it is a cashless system which means you need to buy a my city card first and then load monies on to the card before you can use it. There is also not that many places that sells the card and in Camps bay for example you can only get one at the Library and their opening hours is a bit erratic.
I trust this answer helps!
