We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were treated like VIP’s for the whole week of our stay. All the staff were very friendly. The rooms were to a very high standard, and very clean. Just a 15 minute walk to the V&A Waterfront
Early check in and shown to a well sized and fitted out apartment by a helpful concierge. Great wi-fi. Breakfast was sufficient with basic choices in a very clean and efficient restaurant. Has burger king next door and a liquor store close by. Staff very friendly and Randall was great with tourism advice. Hop on red and blue line bus stops nearby. Handy to grocery shopping and pharmacy over road. I would suggest that instructions on how to control air con and TV reception would assist. Overall a fine, clean well equipped establishment in a good location but expect to get the usual money approaches from some locals when venturing out. 4.5 stars from us.
We found this place by accident as we were looking for accommodation for a family of four. There offer appeared to be very good value for money so we booked it for a three night stay snd did not regret it s single moment. The apartment with two bedrooms we had was nice and modern. The staff really attentive and extremely friendly. Breakfast at äMRKT was very good and consisted of made do order dishes and a buffet. Dinner at YU was fantastic. Drinks, Cocktails and food were excellent and very creative. Parking for our Van was offered for free in front of the hotel. The Onyx is in walking distance to the V&A and to Longstreet and downtown locations and certainly in reach of several 40 Rand Uber destinations. We found this place by far better than the price suggested and a warm-hearted wonderful Capetown alternative away from the beaten tracks.…
I loved everything about this hotel. It’s proximity to the CTICC was perfect; the apartments were generous in size; it was really quiet; the bed was comfortable and shower powerful; staff went out of their way to be helpful eg finding something to wrap a bottle of wine; and the breakfast was like going to a hipster cafe every morning. I’d want to stay here as a tourist and for business alike!
What a wonderful place to stay. Fairly priced and close to everything. Clean, modern and the staff is extra friendly. I'm not sure when I'll return to Cape Town but when I do, The Onyx is where I'll stay.
I stayed here for a week in a studio apartment. The room was large, comfortable and well appointed. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful and the location is great. I ate breakfast there most mornings even though it wasn't included in my rate and that was good too. I also had a couple of evening meals at Yu the in-house restaurant which was excellent! There is a bar and terrace on the 4th floor which has lovely views. The people and great service is what made the stay special though and I wouldn't hesitate to rebook the Onyx if I return to Cape Town. My one bit of feedback to improve would be to install USB charge points in the rooms, the nature of international travel means having to bring plug adaptors for each country you visit. For the past few years I haven't had to do this as everywhere generally has USB plugs in rooms. I must admit the hotel very kindly gave me an adaptor so this wasn't a big problem but it feels like an area that could be enhanced …
Great location near conference centre, restaurants and lovely view of Table Mountain from my room and within easy walking distance of V&A Waterfront.Lovely rooms, spacious and well equipped. Very comfortable.
We booked for two nights and had a lovely stay. Decent part of town. The room was clean, large and functional. Parking was included and easy. Would recommend and stay again when we come back to Cape Town.
Our family of 5 (3 young kids) enjoyed our stay of 2 nights at Onyx Hotel in a 2br set up the accomodation is extremely spacious with stylish apartment style set up and ours had a great sized balcony which overlooked the convention centre and out to the ports Ours was only a short stay but it was a perfect place to recover from a long flight and it was walking distance to V&A waterfront which suited us as first time tourists to Cape Town I must also add that the breakfast option that comes included in the room rate is of a very high quality. Breakfast is served in the ground floor restaurant / cafe called MRKT. It is not your standard mass market buffet but a more selective / smaller range of continental style breakfast but all done to a very high quality. As well you are allowed 1 selection from the ala carte menu per person which we found the options to be on par with a trendy brunch cafe that we would happily pay for outside. will also add that there is a bar terrace on level 4 plus indoor / outdoor pool and gym which are all very functional and the terrace is a good spot for a few photos of table mountain and city views All things said we were very pleased with our stay, the lovely staff and front of house managers…
We had an amazing stay and it will definitely not be the last time that we will visit this location. The staff was amazing from the time we made our booking till we checked out. Even though the pool wasn't warm enough (it is winter hey), we had a great time. The apartment, WOW!!!, the beds.... and the view, definitely home away from home.
