Cresta Grande Cape Town is celebrated by many for its generously sized rooms boasting mountain views and snug beds, although the decor is occasionally described as dated. Situated centrally, the hotel's location is convenient for exploring local sights, despite occasional noise concerns. Guests commend the amenities, especially the room features and varied breakfast options. Opinions on value are divided, with commendations for breakfast and decor, but some dissatisfaction regarding service and room layout. Staff generally receive high marks for their helpfulness, with a few caveats about housekeeping. The hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness are well-regarded, yet some cleaning inconsistencies are noted.

I just returned from a tour of South Africa and Cresta Grande was chosen by the tour company as our base in Cape Town. The hotel itself is in a central location and many convenience shops, as well as the stop/office for the hop on/off bus tour, are located within walking distance. The hotel has a car service for hire, which was very helpful and charges can be added to your hotel invoice. The rooms are comfortable, the shower wonderful with all necessities provided. There is coffee/tea and water in each room, along with a mini fridge. The breakfast buffet was included, many options available and the food was tasty. The staff was incredibly helpful, especially in making arrangements for the car service and when there were issues with the tour company. I would definitely return to this hotel when I return to South Africa (fingers crossed!).

We stayed at this hotel as part of a tour, and it is located near stop 5 on the hop on hop off bus tour.

The staff were unswervingly polite and hard working, the breakfast crew should be proud of what they achieved.

It's a short Uber to the v+a waterfront and close to everywhere.

We only had one issue, where towels were removed from our room during cleaning of the room, and no replacements provided; so we had to call down each night to get towels to shower etc. The last night was the worst for this, as it took 3 attempts to get towels sent including an hour spent waiting for them just before midnight one evening. Speaking to others on our floor this occurred to a number of them - we wondered if there was a towel shortage.

We stayed at the Cresta as part of a G-Adventures group so I don't know what the cost was.

The staff were really really nice. I found them helpful, courteous, and prompt. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.

There was a bathtub! Yay! And a shower! Our room was quiet and clean. There was a safe in the room. The bed was comfortable and wifi was available too.
The hotel is across the street from a bank with banking machines outside (there was a security guard there when we went) and restaurants are nearby. If beggars bother you, don't go out at night. Really, just don't go out at night anyway unless you get an Uber. We were slightly harassed at night when we went to the nearby Marco's African Place, just a couple of blocks away. The beggars seemed quite desperate.

There is a small pool and an outside lounging area with views of the street. Our room had a view of a cement wall on one side and an office building on the other. This turned out to be a good thing because I believe it muted the night cries of the frustrated street people.

There is a bar in the hotel and our server was very nice. There was nobody there but us, early on a Monday night, go figure.

The breakfast was quite good with fruit, yogurt, bacon, a variety of hot items, sliced meat, an omelet station where a guy made ours fresh, some fruit was canned but some was fresh, there was a place to make toast, coffee was available and they had a couple of types of juice. We ate there there times and it was good each time. They had a place at the drink station to fill your water bottles.

I'd definitely recommend the Cresta.

Very good. Nice good sized room with everything you need tea/coffee facilities, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, fridge with a couple of bottles of water. Not far from the airport about 25 mins. We stayed at the cresta grande for 2 nights before picking up a cruise. It is very central you can get the hop on hop of bus great value.
The staff at the hotel were excellent polite and friendly. They have a lovely bar with comfortable seating we didn’t realise you could order food in the bar. We had the buffet in the restaurant but think I would have preferred a bar meal. They also have a lovely outside area with pool. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because of the outside noise late at night I think it was coming from a nightclub. Other than that I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed with gadventures National Geographic. Told not to even cross street at night and to go nowhere other than a couple of nearby restaurants unless in a taxi. Took a tax i to waterfront and walked kilometres along the ocean during the day and among the restaurants at night. Why we would put in an unsafe area when there are many safe areas is beyond logic. Sure staff is nice but found people everywhere helpful. When we travel we want hotels with full services and this hotel serviced no lunch or supper or we want to be able to walk around in the evening and enjoy the ambience of the adventure. The location of the Cresta does not offer any opportunity to enjoy Cape Town in safety. It is simply cheap accommodation for a tour company.

Dear pork, Thank you for your review after your stay at our Hotel. I am disappointed to learn that you found our location unsatisfactory, our central city location is ideal for both business and leisure travellers and is the perfect base to explore Cape Town. The popular V&A Waterfront is a short drive away by taxi and a mere 30min walk for those persons who prefer to walk and see our city. I can confirm that we are a full service hotel and that our restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, should any guests prefer to stay in the Hotel. I do apologise for the poor communication received during your stay, we look forward to being given the opportunity to host you once again in the near future. Kind Regards, J.P Moggee

I loved the very polite and helpful staff. Any concerns we had, they attended to us urgently. As breastfeeding mum who had not traveled with my baby, they offered their freezer to store my expressed milk in a very clean container for the 6 nights. Upon checkout I forgot my bag in a store near the hotel, they were kind enough to pick on my behalf and courier to me back home.
The family rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable.
The hotel is at central place to get to our tour bus or food joints on foot.
I would highly recommend.

My wife booked one night over a weekend in January 2022. (We live 30 minutes away in the suburbs) We just wanted a base from which to explore the city nightlife.

It was a record-breaking day as far as heat was concerned, so the swimming pool and air conditioning was super appreciated.

The hotel is excellently situated within walking distance from Long/Loop/Bree streets, although the less-adventurous could probably Uber around, especially later at night. (We did not) Also Kloof area is a very short Uber away and although we did not do this, Sea point is not far away either. If public transport is more your thing, that is also a couple of minutes away.

As for the rating of 4, the reasons are as follows.
1.) Air conditioning was not working when we got there. (NOTE: It was immediately fixed after calling reception.)
2.) No Hair Dryer. (Note: Also immediately replaced after phoning reception)
3.) The elevator sometimes takes a little long. I think probably could just be reprogrammed. Many times you would stop at an empty (or multiple empty) lobbies.

All staff that we interacted with were super helpful.

A very important aspect for me in any stay is cleanliness and here the hotel performed superbly.

All of the listed were REALLY MINOR inconveniences and I would 100% still recommend the hotel to family and friends.

We arrived here after a couple of long flights from the Uk and Dubai. We were pleasantly greeted at the reception by a very polite and helpful gentleman which was a relief after our first encounter with a dodgy taxi driver who had scammed us so we were very nervous about our time in Cape Town.
We went to our room and took in the amazing views of the mountains.
We went to the restaurant for some food and was greeted by Divine who was so lovely he made sure we had everything we requested, he was very helpful when we asked him any questions he also remembered our drinks orders just after that first encounter. The next morning we met Shabier who was very kind and asked us what our plans were and just made sure we knew the safest ways to get about cape town and was engaging every time we saw him he remembered what we ordered in the morning for the following day and even lent his coat to my friend who was very cold as the weather dropped for a couple of days and my friend was not prepared. The room was very spacious, bed very comfortable housekeeping service great we didn’t ask for much as we didn’t need anything so only asked for the room to be reset 2/3 times. The lifts are the only issue but thats nobodys fault. The food is absolutely lovely. The whole time we spent here it was like we gained many friends in the staff every single person was polite always said hello. Terrence always made sure we were ok and everything was fine. Jayson was very helpful he issued us with brochures for different activities and things in cape town he checked in with most days to make sure we were ok and safe. I just can’t fault anything or anyone we have had the most amazing time in Cape Town and i will certainly miss seeing everybody as they really made us feel so welcome and looked after.
Thankyou to everyone at Cresta Grande
Mia and Karsun!! 💙

The staff in the restaurant and bar are exceptional, they are really attentive and very polite. They were constantly checking we were ok and always very happy.
Our room had 2 double beds and they were comfortable. The bathroom was in definite need of updating with cracks in the sink and just general wear and tear.
Our biggest problem was with the daily cleaning where we either didn’t get enough towels, we had 3 people and kept being given 2 bath towels, or the water wasn’t topped up and one day the bins not emptied. The good news is that as soon as you report anything then the reception sort it quickly for you. Overall we enjoyed our stay and we would stay again, it was just the small things that need fixing to make it a higher rating.

There is a shuttle car for the amount of 100zar. At the lobby you can go to the shuttle section to ask for a ride to the waterfront. When you get dropped you can let the driver know when you want to be picked up. Then they will let you know where you should meet. I found this very convenient.
