Very warm welcome received when we arrived with our luggage having traveled from PE our vehicle was well taken care of and taken to the parking by very friendly assistance. Good atmosphere all around and very professional service. Room service calls are answered quickly and very well versed consultants in each area makes the communication outstanding. One thing i would reccomend is the heated pool temperature to be increased abit especially during the winter period as we preffer3d the jacuzzi instead of the pool this time around. The management of Taj really ticked all the boxes in catering for there guests as we preffered spending most of or time at the hotel. Personally I cannot wait to come back to the Taj and will not be visiting any other hotels in cape town or SA because of the bar that was set that high at the Taj.

We enjoyed a lengthy stay (11 nights) at this beautiful hotel and then returned after a safari vacation for an additional night. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed and daily housekeeping service was excellent. It is definitely worth splurging for a view of Table Mountain. Initially we were on a low floor with an obstructed view so we requested and later moved to a higher floor with an unobstructed view.
The daily breakfasts were outstanding, and included a large buffet as well as a menu of items that could be prepared to order. We ate in the hotel bar and Mint restaurant and found the food delicious but service could be slow. On the other hand, room service meals were typically efficiently delivered and very well prepared.
The location of the hotel is great for access to many sites; the hop-on/hop-off bus stops nearby and the art museum, Company Gardens, and George St. Mall are steps away. We typically used Uber to go further distances; it was easy and inexpensive.
Service from the front desk, concierge, and other staff was exceptional. The hotel kindly stored our extra luggage while we were away on safari. If we return to Cape Town we would definitely prefer to stay at the Taj.

I was a corporate guest at The Taj Hotel, Cape Town and had the most splendid experience.
My company had booked St George's conference room for two days. Special mention to Jade and Aden from the AV Company, who promptly assisted with all IT related conference facilities - sound worked perfectly as well as the projection screen too. They were quick on their feet, professional and went above and beyond to ensure a smooth snail in my meetings.
I would also like to give recognition to Jolene and Chante at the Mint Restaurant who made sure that all our meals were prepared in time and assisted timeously with urgent requests for the increase of pax. The food was lovely, the service was exceptional. Great work team.
Tiffany in the events department set up the conference room nicely for our meetings and was always readily available to ensure that our refreshment station was on par - kudos Tiff! John who is the door man always wore a contagious smile and was happy to assist us with our luggage.
You have great employees Taj. Keep it up and see you again, soon!
Sincerely, Katleho Monokoane (Corporate Guest from 26 Jan - 31 Jan 2025)

Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted warmly and our luggage and car was attended to. The valet parked our car every day since our arrival, and brought it out front again when we wanted to go somewhere.
The hotel looks regal and classical, as opposed to modern. The overall atmosphere was quiet, relaxed, peaceful, and high-end. We had a swift check-in and were upgraded so our rooms were extra luxurious and spacious, with a stunning view of Table Mountain and Lion's Head. The rooms were really comfortable, the bed was one of the most therapeutic mattresses I've ever slept on, and the hotel service was speedy and efficient. We found the pillows too soft, and the staff quickly brought us harder ones. They also gave us complimentary bath salts so we could enjoy our bubble bath.
The breakfast room had a nice ambience, but I felt the taste and quality of the food could have been better - it was average. I also wish the kitchen would be more mindful and accommodating towards people who only eat halaal food (Islamic way of eating). Nevertheless, the kitchen staff were really friendly and helpful.
In terms of location, I think the hotel is more suited for a business stay, as it is near the CBD or Cape Town, and it is not within walking distance to the Waterfront or Promenade. However, the hotel is centrally located so that it is still a close drive to all the main attractions, like the Waterfront, Promenade, Bokaap, Table Mountain, etc.
I personally would not feel safe walking alone outside the hotel surroundings, but there is security and porters at the entrances, to provide some sense of security.
Overall, these are my ratings: Hotel: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Location: 3/5
Definitely a good stay!

At short notice, we spent three nights in a club category room at Taj Capetown and have and recovered very well here.
While there was some confusion about the services included in our room rate, these minor issues were resolved very quickly.
Here it would be desirable for the reception staff to be better informed about the individual room rates and not to give false information. But, as already written, this was all resolved very well.
The gym is quite well equipped for a hotel, although with older equipment, but these are in good condition throughout, very relaxing is also the small Finnish sauna.
The breakfast offer leaves nothing to be desired, even the hotel bar can only be praised.
Very friendly and service oriented staff and perfect cleanliness.

We finished our South Africa trip with a two night stay at the Taj hotel in Cape Town. The reception was very friendly and easy going. The concierge was lovely. We were shown to our suite and, on the way, all the amenities were explained. The suite (Junior Suite in the Heritage Wing - highly recommended) was roomy and comfortable and all the usual perks (coffee maker, safe, mini bar and so on were available. There is a well-equipped gym with swimming pool and sauna available 24 hours. The Spa is great. I enjoyed of of the best massages I ever had (2-hour full-body massage) and the price was very reasonable. Breakfast is rich and well-presented. We had dinner at the Bombay Brasserie, which was just delightful.(see separate review) The concierge staff went out of their way to make our stay most extraordinary. When we couldn’t decide where to go for dinner on the last night, they just made a reservation at the restaurant they thought we would probably pick, just to make sure we could get a table. That’s what I call perfect and proactive service. I was impressed - Chapeau !! The only thing I would like to mention is, that the executive lounge should not be a children’s playground or a rugby/cricket watching space. If people want to watch a cricket or rugby game or entertain their children, it shouldn’t be at the executive lunge which should be quiet and focussed on business and exclusivity. If there is a significant clientele with children or sports-interested crowd, there should be a separate space for them. Altogether, this was a lovely weekend with great, professional service. Thank you for a lovely experience!

Stayed here during our trip to Cape Town. The location is very good - a 10 minute car ride to the waterfront, and the concierge helps one to get a cab . It’s a stone’s throw from the green market square which is an open air market selling local handicrafts. Had a room with a fabulous view of the Table mountain. The room was very well appointed and very clean. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The bar is great. The food was awesome. I would like to make a small point though - when checking into the room, guests should be advised regarding the switch which is supposed to be turned on for housekeeping to make up one’s room; otherwise they don’t clean up your room! I would definitely go back to this hotel.

We are extremely satisfied with the hotel. Its location, room size and staff. The ambience of the hotel was very positive. Everyone had a smile on their face and was always welcoming and ready to help. We liked the location it is centrally located to all the attractions in Cape Town. The size of the room was generous and the bed was very comfortable one of the best I have slept in. Our breakfast was included which was very good. They served continental Asia. They catered to all tastes. All the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome from the concierge to the people who came to clean our room. Jade was extremely helpful and ready to help with any query.
Staff work together as a team to accomplish a goal. The architecture of the building is magnificent. Room was cozy. Every staff member I encountered was welcoming. thank you to all.

We had exceptional service from the Taj from the moment we arrived until we left. A very early check in after a long flight was much appreciated. All the other staff, especially the men on the door, really took care of us.
The lobby decor is just lovely. The rooms are a little dated style wise (dark thick carpets and curtains) but it definitely still has a luxury feel and is well appointed. The water pressure in the shower is fabulous. We opted for a mountain view and that was certainly lovely to look out to.
The dosai for breakfast were excellent. We also ate at the Indian restaurant and had the tasting menu which was enormous, tasty and very well priced.
I’d stay here on a return trip to Cape Town.

Taj Cape Town Luxurious 5* hotel (rated 9) in the central area of Cape Town, right in front of parliament and a few steps from Long Street. The area is convenient for reaching all the main attractions, but in the evening it is dangerous to travel on foot, especially due to the large presence of homeless people, it is always necessary to travel with Uber (which in South Africa has negligible costs, we have never spent more €3 each way to get around the city). Many services available such as valet parking, SPA, indoor swimming pool, 2 restaurants (including an Indian one which is excellent both in terms of setting and quality of food and value for money) (score 9) We had a de luxe room with a city view on the 17th floor, a very comfortable room, a truly top bed (rated 10) for comfort, very nice bathroom (rated 9) with bathtub and large shower, soft bathrobes, slippers and all the rest. Rooms are usually made up in the late afternoon, which is not very convenient, unless requested to arrive earlier. The service people, starting from the reception, are generally very friendly and helpful, any extra request will be satisfied as far as possible (score 9.5). Vast and excellent quality breakfast, both sweet and savory, as well as some vegan dishes (rated 9), with a great choice also à la carte. In short, a hotel that doesn't make you miss anything, with the only flaw being in an area that is not ideal for the evening. The hotel transfer cost from the airport in my opinion is high for a half hour journey (around €65), you can find it for much less by organizing it yourself. Excellent value for money (rated 8 Overall a 9 star hotel. Absolutely recommended

Hi Kulenz. If you turn right out of the hotel and walk up to the main road, it takes about 5 minutes. As long as you’re not on your own, I’d honestly say you’re fine. You can always cross the road if you feel uncomfortable. This will totally depend on where your restaurant is though. Generally I found that it’s just better to get an Uber, if your restaurant is more than a 15 minute walk away. Have an amazing time! I really did love Cape Town.
There are more places to choose from in the Cape Town Central area.
