Beautiful grounds and buildings. Staff very friendly and helpful. However, some little corners are looking a little tired. Having said that to keep a hotel of this size in the condition it is in (given its age) is remarkable but for the money you pay you're allowed to be picky. Think there could be more choice in on-site eating and...

Thank you for your lovely review and we are delighted that you found our staff to be so friendly and helpful. Yes we are aware that there are some tired corners here and there, however we have an ongoing maintenance programme (which just never ends) and we are certain the next time you visit those corners will be looking fabulous.

In our family a trip to the Mount Nelson is obligatory (my Great Grandfather lived there for years) and even I have enjoyed a romantic interlude there! So in keeping with tradition one can’t do Tamboerskloof and not go to the Nellie for a sundowner or High Tea. We’d just missed High tea as the tinkle of china and silver...

We totally agree with you: there is no better place to be on a balmy evening enjoying your favourite drink, the hotel's beautiful gardens in front of you with the eclectic exhibition of sculptures - we are sure that your Great Grandfather was smiling down on you.

I love this hotel, it has an old world colonial feel with all the mod cons you would expect from a Belmond hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the grounds are amazing, you feel as if you're in the middle of the country as you lie by on of the pools, not in the centre of a...

Great hotel with many room options because it consists of several buildings acquired over the years in addition to the main hotel building. All of the staff were outstanding. Food in the Planet dining room was exquisite. Afternoon tea was great, but you have to control yourself to not eat too much of all that is provided! Beautiful grounds and...

We stayed here for the first few days of our honeymoon in Cape Town - it was simply fantastic. Colonial feel, service was exceptional. Food was great and they have a lovely bar that we had a few late nights in! Courtesy car to the Waterfront and up to the Cable Car on Table Mountain which we made use of....

I booked a table for 2 for high tea at 1:30 on the 4th and was immediately acknowledged via E- mail and assured of my booking. On arrival, we were really overwhelmed by the grandieur and beauty of the buildings, the interior and the gardens. The weather was perfect to sit outside on the veranda. Our waiter welcomed us and...

We are coming to the end of our stay and cannot rate this hotel too highly. There are many excellent hotels in Cape Town, but to my knowledge this is the only city centre hotel with outstanding gardens and tennis courts. Of course the history of the hotel and its excellent service are reason enough to chose it, but for...

My husband and I spent three nights at the Mount Nelson as part of our anniversary trip and we completely fell in love with the place. We had previously enjoyed high tea at the Mount Nelson and decided there and then that we would like to go back and stay, so two years later, we did. The hotel definitely has...

We are delighted that you "fell in love" with us and enjoyed "service with a smile" from everyone. Yes, the gardens are magnificent - , isn't it such a treat to know you are in the city centre and yet you feel like you are in a tranquil oasis. We look forward to your return.

We stayed in December 2013 around Christmas The rooms were very well appointed and renovated, despite the long history of the hotel. Our room was in the main building. The bedroom was spacious and the bathroom was outfitted with marble fixtures. On Christmas, we were given holiday cookies and champagne, which was a very nice touch. The gardens of the...

What can I say- The Mount Nelson is a timeless classic that everybody should stay in at least once. Have stayed here several times and Nellie never fails.
