The Winchester Hotel is an iconic building on the seafront in Cape Town within close proximity to the V&A Waterfront and Cape Town International Airport. Free shuttle service to the Waterfront, free wifi internet access in public areas are standard. This landmark hotel offers classic elegant rooms, many boasting stunning sea views. Facilities include a heated pool, relaxing treatments in the Ginkgo Spa, signature dishes from award winning Restaurant & Bar as well as full service conferencing. THE RENOVATION The Winchester Hotel has recently under gone a refurbishment, the historic details and features of the interior architecture at The Winchester Hotel have been maintained – and in some places even reinstated – while bringing in furnishings, colour palettes and styling that add a modern appeal. A crisp classic black-and-white colour scheme features throughout the hotel’s main areas – seen in beautiful, white-panelled walls and detailed ceilings, offset by striking geometric floor tiles, all accented by quirky décor elements and antiques that portray the building’s rich history and personality. The black-and-white theme also features in the new, beautifully appointed, bathrooms. After a long period of closure, we’re excited to welcome you to the newly reopened Winchester Hotel!

Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Winchester Hotel's cleanliness receives accolades, with visitors praising its pristine rooms and updated bathrooms. Its Sea Point location is a hit for its tranquility and proximity to the ocean. While the rooms are generally comfortable and contemporary, some guests point out issues with maintenance. Service quality at The Winchester is inconsistent; although staff is often commended for their professionalism, there are occasional complaints about slow service. The hotel's atmosphere is considered inviting by many, featuring a sophisticated decor and charming courtyard. However, opinions on the decor's cheeriness are divided. The amenities, including ocean views and dining options, are popular among guests, yet some criticize the limited upscale dining choices and slow breakfast service. Unfortunately, the hotel's value is a point of contention for numerous travelers, who feel that the high prices don't match the quality of amenities and room experience offered.

The hotel location, water view, courtyard and restaurant is excellent. The food here is high quality. We used the spa and enjoyed a facial and massage. We stayed in the loft rooms, very clean thanks to our great maid Pamela. Phillip at the front desk who helped with dinner reservations, transportation and a late checkout. Thanks to all who made our stay wonderful. We look forward to returning.

I revisited an hotel I have stayed at previously. It has undergone a major transformation in the past few years. It is located at Seapoint which is about 10 minutes from the Waterfront( R100 approx £5 in a cab) over the road from the Atlantic Ocean and a green area where people paraglide ,walk their dogs and exercise. It has character an a good restaurant called Shoreditch and a bar named Harvey. The hop on hop off bus for City/peninsula tours has a stop opposite the hotel. The buses run every 20 minutes. I had a loft room which was very comfortable

Lovely boutique hotel in Seapoint right on the sea front. Breakfast was great and lots of choice. Room great. Shops and restaurants are a short walk away. The only negative I would say is that when we asked for anything it took a long time to arrive.

Lovely breakfast! We love coming here fpr breakfast, every time when in Cape Town! The setting is just lovely, the atmosphere is just perfect and the service is always excellent (John is THE best). Food great and cocktails too in the afternoon. Keep up the great work, this is a gem in Sea Point!

As it was our final evening in Cape Town we decided to revisit the Winchester Boutique Hotel for sundown drinks and casual bar food. We were greeted by Soso who looked after us all evening. Initially we sat at the bar’s outside terrace sipping a Boschendal Brut Rose while watching the sun slip away for the day. Spectacular sight and certainly a camera shot! Then as the temperature cooled we moved inside and had fabulous oysters followed by a Greek lamb plate and a spicy chicken dish. The bar has small plates on offer as well as the same menu options as the more formal restaurant and the food was excellent. Highly recommended for the views, service and food. Thanks to Soso for making our final evening in Cape Town a casual but very special memory!

It was a fantastic hotel, reception was amazing and the waiting staff and bar staff were brilliant nothing too much trouble, I would definitely recommend this hotel. One thing I would change is the evening dinner menu very limited choice but very nice food just after a few nights it gets a little boring.

We celebrated Christmas at this hotel and we had a super Christmas lunch alongside choosing wines from the extensive wine list. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The concierge at the hotel helped us to book restaurants and they also arranged for us to be picked up and dropped off by the hotel designated taxi. Breakfast had an excellent spread of cold food and pastries but you could also order hot dishes. Sometimes the wait for your order to be taken was a little longer so do give yourself enough time if you need to be somewhere. The hotel room was clean and spacious with stunning views of the sea front. It was great to be able to see the paraglides going past the window. We were pleased with the pool and poolside refreshments which were easy to order.

We went here for a couple of beers and a cold bottle of wine, this is a great place to sit out on the veranda and watch the sun going down. While we were there we looked at the menu and it looked very good,a little bit pricier than other places but looked beautiful inside and the service was exceptional from the staff. We would have loved to have eaten here but it was our second last day in Cape Town but would recommend.

We stayed at the Winchester for two nights in November and were really excited to celebrate our honeymoon there having seen it advertised as a 'boutique' hotel - we love the intimate, quaint and personal feel to these smaller hotels. What was clear however, almost from the off, was that this wasn't the case for The Winchester. We noticed that the hotel suffers from quite a lot of faults that are typical with larger hotels (especially those owned by another company) where you receive a much less personal, high-quality experience, such as: - Customer service being very slow, with it taking almost a month to process an initial refund due to a booking error - Incorrect information from staff, with one receptionist claiming a restaurant we wanted to book had a '3 month waiting list'...it turned out they don't even accept bookings - we just queued up and were seated in 5 minutes - Hotel services not available, including the spa and gym being closed for refurbishment. Being offered to simply go to the local Virgin Active and paying for this service ourselves wasn't exactly solving the issue - Wet towels and empty drinks not being cleared away from beds around the pool, so none appeared to be available - Room faults, including an empty mini bar, limited lighting, a loose tap in the en-suite, limited toiletries and fly nests around the windows Whilst there were elements we appreciated - such as the breakfast - we don't believe this justified the price we've paid to celebrate our honeymoon, and it certainly isn't a typical boutique hotel experience. We recommend staying a bit further south in Camps Bay and heading to the POD, which is the definition of an outstanding boutique hotel.
