This is our 5th stay here. Over the years the place has kept a consistent quality as a boutique hotel. The charm of colonial townhouses converted into the hotel feels like you are saying in a local neighbourhood and not a tourist zone. The Kieth and staff continue to be helpful with plans for the day and like good friends,...

We stayed at An African Villa for three nights at the end of a Garden Route tour, choosing it on the strength of TripAdvisor recommendations, and it absolutely lived up to expectations, from the moment one of the five-person management team, Keith, welcomed us with a very thorough introduction to the property and its neighbourhood. I'm not sure whether it's...

This is a wonderful little hotel staffed by some of the most helpful people I've ever met. A big shout out to Kaylah, Louis and Cynthia. They arranged tours for us, made great restaurant recommendations and basically made us feel part of the family. Very clean, well appointed rooms with lots of light--excellent breakfast and a splendid honor bar. Great...

The staff are super friendly. They will volunteer advising you and telling you were to go during your short stay in the city. The breakfast fast is excellent. They will ask you what to cook for you. And their are different kinds of cereal and yogurt. It changes slightly every day. The rooms are a little bit small.

We loved An African Villa. Gorgeous room with beautiful views of table mountain. Neighborhood was safe with plenty of parking and is a 5 minute walk or $3 cab to the restaurants of Kloof Street. The table mountain cable car and the V&A are also both very quick car rides. Breakfast was great as well with a full continental spread...

We stayed here for several nights. The hotel is boutique (more like a guesthouse), clean and in a quiet area. It is well run, with a good cooked breakfast. The rooms are basic with en- suite bathrooms and limited toiletries. It was quite cold as the room heating was a bit haphazard. The big advantage is that the staff provide...

I absolutely loved this place. It felt like staying with a well off friend. The breakfast was fresh made to order, the staff was so courteous, and the owners were there every morning to help plan your day. My wife and I are young and they knew just the spots we should go to. They even set us up with...

Once again I've returned to An African Villa and never disappointed. Treated my parents to a surprise 50th wedding anniversary. The team are fantastic!!! and so attentive, customer service at its best. The guest house is pure luxury and beautifully decorated. It has not lost its exquisite charm since my last visit. The rooms are beautiful. You will not be...

This was the greatest stay of the year so far; the wife was able to totally relax and get some much needed R and R!! Keith was a brilliant member of staff who looked after us all through the stay - no request was too extreme and he always had a fun joke for us in the morning to start...

An African Villa is a lovely boutique hotel in a quiet residential neighborhood. Keith greeted us warmly and was always available to answer questions and provide advice as needed. Linda similarly always had a smile and greeting for us in the morning. Our room was quiet and quite comfortable. The entire hotel is furnished in a modern African style and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This Villa is much more than that! It is in fact three houses which are part of a Victorian terrace dating from 1892. The double story houses have been joined together and so the inside spaces are much larger than the facade suggests. It's like walking into a TARDIS someone has written on Tripadvisor! There are 12 rooms and the hotel is owner managed.Location is vital when choosing a spot for you vacation and this more than a Villa is within an easy walk of all tourist attractions in the city area. The others (like the fabulous beaches) are a short taxi ride away. There is a small plunge pool in a peaceful courtyard where a very full breakfast is served in summer. (In winter there's a sociable dining room and an eco-friendly fire blazing). Your hosts are very careful to offer you as much information as you want and they will arrange car rental, restaurant reservations, tours etc. As required.Free internet on 2 computers in a library area and wireless access is available in all rooms. At night the night porter will set out complimentary sherry and port and at other times there is an honesty bar and guest fridge in the kitchen. Parking is on street and there is no charge (street guards patrol) but you should not need a car from this well placed hotel. ... more   less
