This is how you should do it if you run a hotel. First of all, thank you to the complete team of Luca - Vujo, Willem, Anahid, Patrick. You made us feel at home right from the start and we wished we could stay some more weeks. To get more concrete: Location: Derwent is located 2 min (steep) walk from...

If you could roll out Derwent House and staff to every city in the world we would not stay anywhere else. From the moment we arrived and welcomed so warmly by Luca we knew we had found a gem. The furnishings and hotel design were nothing other than world class. Our room with a view of Table Mountain from the...

This is a well located boutique hotel in Cape Town with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The owners and the staff are some of the friendliest people I have come across in a hotel. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Highly recommend this hotel for a more personalised service than the large...

The owner/manager made you feel like a welcomed guest in her home, and all staff very friendly and personable. Breakfast was excellent, great menu and service was prompt and delicious. Well located boutique hotel with quite exceptional staff - nothing too much trouble. Very good breakfasts and honesty bar etc. Rooms well equipped and furnished. It is the little things one notices eg iced water with mint and lemon, automatic turndown service, gratis icecream on hot days by the pool, advice and booking of restaurants and the attractive lounge. We...

Dear Martin, Many thanks for your kind words -- we so enjoyed hosting you both: it's always great when guests feel so at home here and really relax. We're always on the alert for the little things, that's our strength--nothing like an ice cream or slice of watermelon on a hot day by the pool. You have our heartfelt gratitude...

You are most welcome, JulieH! And thank you for letting us know that we helped make your special visit to beautiful Cape Town even more special: we think Cape Town is just the most romantic place in the world (okay -- not entirely objective!), so where better indeed to celebrate marriage? Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In a city renowned for hospitality, Derwent House stands out as one of Cape Town's leading boutique guesthouses. Located in the heart of the vibrant Tamboerskloof/Gardens neighbourhood, this small hotel combines historic charm, contemporary Afro-chic style and all mod-cons for a uniquely Capetonian blend of ambience, warmth, and comfort. Our wonderful team completes the picture -- we go the extra mile for you and our guests leave as friends. We love colour and celebrate African design - you'll find it everywhere. But when it comes to the basics - like breakfast, bedding, showers, climate control, Wi-fi or news from home - we don't compromise so you don't have to. At Derwent House, you're steps away from the hustle and buzz of Kloof Street, with its collection of superb restaurants, bars and trendy boutiques--and just a few further to the nightlife hub of Bree and Long Streets. Yet just a short car journey from the Table Mountain cable car, the beaches of Clifton or Camp's Bay, and the V&A Waterfront. There's nowhere more central -- but come and see for yourself. We're waiting for you! ... more   less
