Beautiful heritage property dating back to the 1860's. The gardens inspire a lingering stay at the foot of the majestic Outeniqua mountains. The rooms are individually decorated in traditional Cape Dutch style. Rooms are very comfortable. Fresh local berries set the scene for an idyllic morning's breakfast. A lovely stay!

A very well kept historic place with several nicely decorated rooms. There is one self service unit which is much more modern if you prefer that. The host is great and very involved with you. Great suggestions for things to do and restaurants. Very good breakfast too. The garden is really unique! Have a walk around.

I stayed for one night and even before going down for breakfast I had already booked to stay again when next in George. I stayed in one of the upstairs rooms which was exactly as described (descriptions of the rooms are on their website) and very comfortable. Knowing that George can offer a visitor all four seasons in one day,...

You have no idea how I appreciate your kind words - as you stayed in the same room that the previous reviewer found small, average and inadequate! I am so glad you loved the room and that Elize remembered to switch on the geyser in time! Desmond threatened to courier our luggage home so that he could fit more plants...

I my arrival I was informed that I will no longer sleep in the room overlooking the pool, but I will sleep in a room upstairs. The stairs being outside. The room very small. No windows that I could open, accept for the ones that form part of the door. I can not open these during the night. It is...

I only now noticed that I never answered this review. What I would like to say is that you stayed for 2 days and never gave Elize (who was managing while we were away) the slightest inclination about your unhappiness. You booked my smallest budget room (the one overlooking the pool is a mere 12 square meters) I gave Elize permission...

We are staying in the self catering annexe and are delighted with it. Sparkling clean. Beautifully and cleverly decorated. Mini dishwasher, washing machine. Friendly service. Superb garden with resident owl. Off street parking. Historical homestead very much in the 21st century. We'll definitely be back.

I had the privilege to stay in this beautiful historic homestead again. A choice of self-catering or B&B. Ideal for tourist and business people who need to stay a while. There is a choice of modern or old-styled charm. The owners and staff is exceptional - warm, friendly and helpful. Situated in a quiet area not far from the centre...

I randomly searched the web and found this place. One phone call and reservation done. An old family homestead from 1880's. The decoration and accessories are from a bygone era and supplemented with modern creature comforts. Our room had a fire place, heaters and electric blankets. I need not say more about the refreshing sleep after drawing close the shutters....

Wow what can I say, was absolutely impressed at the personal service and the little touches. Heated floors and towel racks. Gowns for use, milk left in fridge for tea and coffee. Electrical blankets on beds. Breakfast made on request. A pleasant hostess. I would recommend this place to anyone staying over in George.

We spent a night at this gorgeous historic B&B. The grounds are immaculate and the gardens make me very envious! The furniture in the public spaces are simply beautiful. We had an outside, upstairs room which was lovely as we could sit outside to catch the late afternoon sun while enjoying a beer. With an electric blanket on the bed...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Experience hospitality in a unique and authentic Cape Georgian historical home dating back to 1861. Fairview Homestead is a 7 bedroom guest house in B&B style - that means the owners,Desmond and Philda, live on the premises. The guest rooms are private, but we have a communal lounge/breakfast area for the guests. Philda is responsible for the running of the Guest House and Desmond is the gardener and plant collector (when not in the garden still working as a medical doctor) We have a large kitchen garden, a small orchard and keep our own chickens. Do consider staying a few days: George is the hub of golf in the Garden Route with many of South Africa's top courses within a 60km radius. We can organize a guided tour of the garden Route wine route, paragliding, bungee jumping, game drives to Bottelierskop Game Reserve and trips to the Seal Island and/or Shark cage diving in Mossel Bay... ... more   less
