Immaculate in every sense of the word. The staff were friendly, fun and most efficient. The bedroom was extremely comfortable but perhaps the jacuzzi bath has seen its best days! The food was delicious and the view out to sea was lovely. We had the bonus of meeting the owner and his wife who were both charming and friendly.

I took my wife to the guesthouse for our 10 year anniversary. Firstly our thoughts was that the reception was slow to check us in. Also surprised that for a 5 star rating guesthouse we need to carry of suitcases ourselves. Out aircon (best room of the guesthouse) was not working. After reporting it nothing was done. After dinner we...

Lovely small hotel / guest house set just above the beach looking out over the ocean. Rooms are large and very well equiped including a sitting area and large bathroom with separate bath tub. Meals are served in the dining room which overlooks the sea, both breakfast and dinner were very good and the wine celler offers a huge choice...

Thank you for a wonderful relaxing break and for being so accommodating . We are so glad we finally made it. Nomfundo is a gem, she is so helpful and helped make our stay just perfect . Our room was beautiful with an amazing view and just perfect to go to sleep at night lulled by the crashing waves.

This hotel has uninterrupted 180° views of the the Ocean . It exudes friendliness and nothing is too much trouble for management and enmployees. We had a fabulous ocean facing suite ; breakfast was most comprehensive and all in all we wished our 3 day stay was longer. We hope to return longer next year to this haven.

We had the upstairs suite, beautiful views across the bay, drinks in the mini bar included nice to have the toilet separate from the bathroom and 4 wash hand basins. Gave us good recommendations for the restaurants in Hermanus

Our family of five stayed in one of the chalets for a couple of nights mid-Dec. There was a large verandah with a seafront view where we took meals. Three bathrooms and three bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable! A handy location on the outskirts of Hermanus. There are quite a few things to do in Hermanus itself...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Schulphoek guesthouse overlooks the bay from which it received its name - an idyllic expanse of ocean, where whales are frequent visitors. Beyond its quiet beaches, you will find nature paths and bird watching. Just 5km from Hermanus centre, Schulphoek offers an eco-conscious refuge, with seven sumptuously decorated suites that overlook either our garden or the sea. Food is our passion. You will find a three-course menu du jour, served at our social table (or separate) with organic produce from our potager garden and fresh-line fish. Our cellar is a haven for aficionados, featuring 12,000 bottles of local wine. ... more   less
