We had the most wonderful stay in Narnia Guesthouse. The hosts Stella and Richard are so very hospitable and friendly; we really felt at home in this little paradise. We stayed in the lovely furnished poolhouse, it has the most beautiful view over the hills all the way to the head. You can do self-catering (most luxurous because you don't...

Of all the places we stayed at in South Africa, Narnia holds a very special memory. Stella is a perfect hostess and the true spirit of Africa is obvious in all aspects of this delightful location - from the beautiful decor to the fabulous food, from the stunning views over Knysna Heads to the beautiful gardens and the very warm...

Fantastic tanning area, a well kept, spacious swimming pool and the rooms were very clean and well layed out. Beautiful interior and not to mention the garden... As a keen photographer I was very lucky to have such beauty at my disposal! We cooked marshmellows around the boma fire, Stella and Richard were very friendly and welcoming. We stayed 3...

Narnia is set in beautiful surroundings with a wonderful ambience of tranquility and peace. It is the stepping stone for the exploration of this wonderful piece of ' Eden' with wonderful walks, cycling, swimming, fishing or just enjoying the Garden Route. One is warmly welcomed by your hostess who is noted for her warmth, attention to detail and knowledge on...

Over the last few years I have stayed at Narnia several times a year and I never cease to be delighted at its beauty, tranquility and comfort. Stella is a gracious and attentive host without being intrusive. The accomodation is superb and the surroundings are simply stunning. In winter it is warm and cozy, in summer cool and open, and...

Few places in South Africa that we visited showed more starkly the difference between the haves and have-nots. The hill above the eastern approach to Knysna is dominated by teetering, tumbledown shanties that eventually give way to Knysna itself: a manicured, middle-class, suburban wet dream. We were well supplied, and there was nothing in the town that we thought would...

My mother and I recently took a trip to Knysna to get away from the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg. We were recommended Narnia Guest House by family friends who said it was an absolutely stunning guest house. They were completely right. Everything about this accommodation was absolute bliss. The owner, Stella Sohn, went out of her way to make...

We stayed in the Cottage at Narnia during the weekend of 24 & 25 September 2011, as my husband was participating in a 100km mountain bike challenge. Our booking was for bed & breakfast. Breakfast being charged at R75 per head, being the rate when our booking was made. The owner, Stella Sohn, offered to pack my husband a breakfast...

Your review on Tripadvisor has saddened me especially as your stay was actually given to you free of charge in lieu of a prize donated by me to a cycling event in Knysna. Your booking was to self-cater but you asked for breakfast and so we made a plan for you. Perhaps I should have explained to you the kind...

The one night stay has been very nice as well as the breakfast included in the price. Enough space for even more than two person and a wonderful view on the bay. It is good value for money although rather in the upper price segment.

Situated on top of a hill, we surrounded by majestic views of the Knysna Heads (famous entrance to the sea), Knysna lagoon, the Knysna river and the Garden Route's Outeniqua mountains, this stone and timber guest house nestles in an acre of award winning gardens, visited by 180 species of bird and small wildlife such as bush buck, lynx, monkeys and bushpig. You would be hard pressed to find a better location to stay. Just 2 kms from the town of Knysna with its fabulous shops and restaurants, beaches within 10 kms, forest walks closeby, Plettenberg Bay 30 kms away and both the Tsitsikamma National Park and Oudtshoorn easy day trips. The Guest House is eclectic and intriguing with a mix of building materials, most of which were found on site. The salt water pool is a delight in summer and boasts a view of the mountains very difficult to beat. Geyser water is solar heated, the owners collect glass and tin to recycle, the gardens are watered from dams and are fed with worm farmed compost and an organic veggie garden supplies whoever needs what is being picked on the day. This is a place looked after, with love, by staff who have worked here for over 15 years and looked after guests for 12.
