We booked two tents in Amber Lagoon and we loved it! The hosts are so welcoming and we really felt like home. The couple running the lodge made us an delicious meal when we arrived late in the afternoon and were very flexible about when we wanted to have our meals. They showed us a perfect spot for looking at...

They wanted to run an electricity lead from the house and there was no tap. The ablution block was far from where we were meant to camp. 28 miles out of town out of a horrible road. Did not even bother to book in.

This hotel is unique because it offers both a number of tents and cottage-type accommodation located on terraces on a small hill. Generally bathrooms are shared except for the "luxury suite" where we stayed. However, even this is not en-suite but a few steps from the front door reachable over a small bridge. Also, only cold water from a water...

Amber Lagoon hasa lovely pool, but no lagoon, You need to ask the friendly owner how this accommodation in the arid Karoo came by its name. The accommodation is varied with some rooms having shared bathrooms. We had a unit on one of the upper terraces (the climb up the hill may put some off). It had a small verandah...

Our family stayed in the Ostrich Egg Bumper which worked perfectly for us. Children (8 and 10) enjoyed the loft. Kitchen was well equipped with hot water kettle, fridge, towels, and all the cooking supplies we needed. We enjoyed that all the spaces and buildings on the property were made by hand and complement the earth and landscape. It is...

Amber Lagoon is offroad the mainstream and a good place if you look for an alternative for crowded backpackers. We are family with 2 children and the warmhearted hosts offered us a nice hut at the top of the hill with a beautiful view to the sky. We stayed there for 3 nights and enjoyed the company and especially the...

We only stayed here for one night unfortunately, would have loved to stay longer. We arrived quite late not having prepared for dinner or anything, but simple yet delicious dinner of crepes and salad was made for us by the lovely owners. The safari tents are comfortable and it is amazing to walk up the hill at night to see...

We stayed here for 2 nights, and saw beautiful starlights. We are young and free, and we could see, our clean and lovely room, we did not even need a broom. The room was hot, but we didn't care a lot. And the water was cold, but we all were bold. The big and mighty pool, was nice and cool,...

I'm not one of those outdoorsy people who likes camping, but this place offered a taste of the outdoors in a comfortable way. It was a great way to disconnect from the city life. We stayed in the ostrich room, it was clean yet rustic, with a comfortable bed and mosquito net set up. Susanne the owner was really nice...
