The upside has to be the great, friendly service from the bar and restaurant staff - they truly go the extra mile. The downside: very average, dated accommodation and maintenance/cleaning that's not up to standard. The hotel can be recommended for a reasonable priced stay-over on a main route, but it's hardly anything close to the best Stellenbosch has on...

Again Mercury changed our hotel from that advertised and acknowledged. This time, however, they fouled up. Describing it as a gem (!), it was barely adequate. Bedroom was fine; reasonably appointed and comfortable. We were to have included for one evening, a barbecue. So called lamb was more like camel, or what I imagine camel to be like. Little other...

After reading several negative comments, we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed here as part of a cycling group, Tour the Boland. Reception was friendly, the rooms are clean with air conditioning. Lovely breakfast. The best experience was a message that we left our Ipad behind and that housekeeping had found it. What a relief and a big thank you to...

In spite of being on a big and busy road this hotel does offer a quiet night's sleep. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was large and tasty. The air-conditioner was not 100% effective. There was no milk for the morning tea (or coffee) Over all we did enjoy our stay

The check-in process was quick and easy. I was not offered assistance with my luggage and had to carry it up 2 flights of stairs to my room. Overall, the room was neat and clean, but could certainly do with a revamp and perhaps some more modern features. Breakfast was very average, although I often arrived to find the hot...

Reception was friendly. No baggage service though. All employees were extremely friendly and helpful though. A wedding ceremony was being conducted at the pool area in the courtyard, so we could not use the pool for the whole afternoon. Seemed unfair to us since we paid to have access to a pool for the kids. Both rooms we booked were...

I would not recommend this place to anyone. Air conditioners don't work. Served stale/expired food. Please tried breaking into my colleagues room whilst they were asleep. The pool was dirty. Don't take your family there. There is NOTHING to do at the hotel. Room service ends at 10 pm. This establishment does not deserve one star, let alone the 4...

After reading some of the rather negative reviews, I was concerned when my small group of 10 were booked into this hotel by the Sth African operator. However I was very relieved when we arrived and welcomed by the friendly staff, the rooms were spacious and comfortable with tea making facilities & safe. The 'coffee lounge' was a great place...

We stayed at this lodge while in Stellenbosch as part of a wine route tour. Old style hotel looking tired.Breakfast was just ok. It's good for an overnight rest on that long trip if nothing else is available. A distance out of town.
