We stayed at the river manor boutique hotel last week when we arrived to South Africa on our honeymoon. From arrival to departure I cannot fault it - fantastic, personal & exceptionally friendly service from each & every staff member that we encountered. Our room was beautiful & even though it was relatively small, it didn't matter as it had...

Spent a few nights here before heading to Cape Town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a big room with a very large bathroom. The breakfast was a selection of cereals, fresh fruit , cold meats etc and the hot breakfast was cooked to order. This meant a bit of a wait but I prefer this to...

This boutique hotel oozes charm character and class. Situated at the end of Dorp st it is right in the heart of the action. Comprising one national monument building (1890) and the other built around 1910, it is extremely comfortable and stylish. Room 6 opens in to a guest lounge which almost works as a private sitting room. The room...

We returned to River Manor after two years and had the same welcome from the staff. The staff are like a family welcoming you into their surroundings and nothing is too much trouble. My husband has mobility issues and they made it as simple as they could for him. Breakfast is good, snacks at the pool are ideal. There is...

Arrived here hot and dirty to a wonderful welcome. The place has a faded grandeur, reminiscent of the raj. Everyone does everything they can to make you welcome and all the little details, such as homemade biscuits and sherry in your rooms, make you feel so special. We were only sorry we could only stay for two nights. Breakfast on...

Such a warm welcome on arrival and a beautiful old building. The garden with two pools and plenty of places to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and write up the diary in the evening...bliss after a few wineries! Breakfast was just right...lots of healthy options and the cooked breakfast looked good too. We were sorry to say goodbye...

We used this as a base for 2 nights after Cape Town and loved the relaxed environment and despite the fact that the hotel was full, it did not feel overcrowded. A short walk into Stellenbosch with a large selection of restaurants and only 20 minute drive to Franschoek. Limited parking within property but we managed to park at all...

The Manor River Lodge is nicely appointed. Our premier room was large, spacious and had a very large bathroom. Contrary to other reviews the hotel was spotless. The bed itself was big the mattress comfort was fine but the pillow comfort not so great. Having breakfast outside in the garden was lovely. It's a very short walk to the main...

Beautifully furnished with a colonial feel. Staff really helpful and friendly. Lovely garden with a choice of two pools. Centrally located but in a quiet and leafy location. Great breakfast. Perfect stay. Love to revisit!

This was our favourite hotel in South Africa. Very charming building on a quiet street, lovely décor and staff. Breakfast served by the pool was delicious. Even though we arrived late in the evening the receptionist organised a wine tour for us for the next day which we loved (we went to various beautiful vineyards and tried far too much...
