This is the most hospital hotel I've ever been to. As a Canadian I can confidently say that most of the hotels back home don't make me feel as welcome as I felt here. The staff are always finding ways to make our experience as pleasant as possible and are always there at the drop of a dime when you need anything. The restaurant has been so wonderful that we've hardly strayed away from eating here every single day. The cleaning staff are beyond kind in the sense that they clean your room every single day and change your bedsheets every day so at the end of each day you can come home to a nice comfy bed. I have felt like a part of a family here and if I get the chance to come back to South Africa I will definitely be staying here again.

This hotel is located in a very nice location in Stellenbosch and has its own parking, the gentleman who helped us with parking was very helpful. The staff is really very nice and they are always there for you, they were very involved. (we had a wedding in Stellenbosch and the lady (Leea?) from the service was so very nice and sympathetic). A nice and friendly hotel in the centre of Stellenbosch and still very calm. The room was cute and cosy, housekeeping provided water for free on a daily basis and particularly the bed was very comfortable (although I have severe back pain). We were very excited to stay in the middle of the town for a few nights - The Stellenbosch Hotel's location is unbeaten! And that is what the one star is for. The rest is extremely disappointing.
The room we were in, is literally falling apart. The cupboard doors hang, the kitchen is almost as old as the town and the bathroom needs serious upgrading. For the price we paid (R3000 per night), you would expect a neat, well maintained room, but this is certainly not the case. We were thankful for clean linen and towels.
The breakfast is atrocious. The fruit salad, mostly apple and melon, looks like it's been sitting in its juice for days. I asked for toast and the server proceeded to take a slice of bread out of its supermarket bag and toasted it somewhere in the kitchen. At this price, breakfast should be well presented and fresh. I was very sceptical to order eggs, let alone anything meaty.
The service is below par. Staff are not as attentive as you would hope and the restaurant ambience is dull and old.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel, even for its location. There are many other hotels at a better price, with much better breakfast. We booked at a nearby hotel for HALF THE PRICE and as soon as we walked in, we knew that we'll be better off.
Stellenbosch Hotel, you need to renovate, get someone in who can blow some modern air into your rooms and restaurant. If you can't do that, reduce your prices - there are plenty other options out there, who are miles better.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stellenbosch Hotel. The customer service was above and beyond - we made a mistake with our booking and arrived a day late. The reception staff was helpful and understanding and we had it all sorted in no time and with no additional cost/penalty. Needless to say, we greatly appreciated the quick fix. The location is unbeatable, we loved being walking distance from all the lovely shops and restaurants. My new favourite restaurant is undoubtedly the Stellenbosch Kitchen where we had our breakfasts - food, decor and atmosphere was lovely!
We stayed in the 2-bedroom apartment with our two teenage sons. It was clean and comfortable, met all our needs. I loved opening the windows and listening to the happy sounds coming from the street below.

Quick trip to Stellenbosch to help my child move into campus before the University started. The Stellenbosch Hotel will be my home away from home for a long time. I would recommend this hotel purely on location, The apartment was a disappointment with both bathrooms having blocked drains: the shower had no drainage and standing in ankle high water, basins not draining so washing face and cleaning teeth was not a good experience. There were only fans and no aircon. Plug points for charging phones etc in bedroom were not easily accessible. No power when load shedding, one plug point would have been nice. When having breakfast, there was a shortage of food so we did not get any croissants / pastries etc. The eggs / mushrooms etc had also run out and we had to wait to have more prepared - Only eggs were then "topped up" - we had Breakfast at 9.15am. Service generally was good but service by staff for breakfast was not of a good standard.

The hotel offers everything one will require and their position within the village of Stellenbosch is excellent. We had a few special requests (traveling as a biking group) and their reservations staff was extremely helpful and accommodating.
Our room was very small but comfortable. We will definitely use this facility again.

I was visiting Cape Town on holiday and decided to book 4 nights at the delightful Stellenbosch Hotel from 9th November 2022. What a find this lovely hotel was.
From the moment I entered the Reception area I was made to feel special and that never changed throughout my stay at the hotel. I was amazed that the staff called me by my name on each occasion I was in contact with them. The staff were all very friendly and took time to have a few words with me on each occasion.
There was a really beautiful inner courtyard area for sitting and having a coffee or a drink.
I was very impressed with my room which had a very small little balcony. The room itself was very comfortable and spotless as was the bathroom which had a good shower .
Tea and coffee available as was bottled water daily. The bonus of having a fridge in the room was great.
Although like everywhere else in South Africa the hotel experienced Load shedding this was well advertised advising guests of the times this would take place.
I was staying on a Bed and Breakfast basis and let me tell you this I have never enjoyed breakfast so much for many a long year. What a spread was put on every day buffet style with EVERYTHING you could possibly want including cooked food.
I dined in the onsite Restaurant, the Stellenbosch Kitchen a couple of nights and the food and service was first class I could not fault a thing. There was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant with lovely waiting staff.. I was even able to enjoy an Irish Coffee to finish off the night!! Most enjoyable to say the least.
This most certainly is a well run and managed hotel my only regret was that I was not staying longer.
I would return in 'A heart Beat' no question about it and most certainly can recommend on my experience which was first class.

Location is excellent but one of the rooms A9 was on the 2nd floor, very close to another room, and actually you could see right into the other person's bathroom, bathroom door very low. Very disappointing. Restaurant for dinner and breakfast was ok although the breakfast server was rather rude. Maybe this hotel was rated a 4* some time ago but it should be not more than a 3*. Staff at check-in very pleasant.
