At the Real Marina Hotel & Spa, many guests have extolled the hotel for its ample amenities, particularly the comfortable rooms boasting sea views, a diverse breakfast selection, and the congenial staff. The hotel's service also garners commendation for its attentive and warm personnel. While views on value are divided, with some guests questioning the meal prices and additional fees, the location is widely celebrated for its scenic vistas and closeness to Olhao's historic center, despite occasional traffic noise. Rooms are generally lauded for their comfort and views, though a few guests suggest they could benefit from modernization and extra features. While the atmosphere strikes a balance between vibrant live music and peaceful moments, opinions differ with some finding the entertainment too boisterous. Cleanliness is well-regarded, although the pool area has been noted to require more upkeep.

I had some specific problems. I couldn’t get a decent night sleep. The first room that I occupied the bed was very comfortable but there was a noisy extractor fan in the bathroom. The staff were very helpful in offering several choices of rooms. However, all of the rooms had something wrong either were noisy, for example Near the outside pool which had a noisy pump, or they were quiet and the beds were uncomfortable, particularly the twin beds. I was there five nights and possibly had one night of a reasonably good sleep. I may be particularly sensitive to this issue with acute hearing that I have , however, with all of the complaints I made , the reception staff who accompanied me to check the rooms all agreed that they heard the noise. It was an unacceptably poor five star experience in relation to that specific issue. In all other respects, the care was excellent. I was poorly during the visit, partly because of lack of sleep, there is a doctor on site in the Hotel I had several consultations with her was prescribed medication to help. I even spoke to her the morning of my flight as I was concerned as to whether I was fit to fly or not, and she was very reassuring and efficient . All of the staff without exception, were kind considerate empathetic they couldn’t have done more to help. I am most appreciative of that. I would say to the senior management of the Hotel that they must really get their act together and check the beds and the noises, unless I am the only person who has ever complained about this. the mattresses on some of the beds definitely need replacing in my view, so perhaps some of the senior management should try sleeping in one of the noisy rooms for a night . It is a wonderful area to visit the ria Formosa I highly recommended and would recommend the Hotel in all aspects other than this. Unfortunately getting a good clear night sleep was top priority, and was why I booked a five star experience, so I would be most grateful if senior management thoroughly investigate my concerns and give a response.

Dear Mr. Coliny, Once again, we would like to thank you for your feedback on your stay at our hotel. Our team is very pleased with the compliments received and it is always a pleasure to meet the needs of our guests, which is why we always do our utmost to find solutions and resolve any concerns. We're sorry to hear that you felt uncomfortable in our rooms, but we can assure you that our mattresses have recently been changed, but perhaps due to the high volume of use, they may have shown some wear and tear and we can assure you that we will check the rooms where you stayed overnight. With regard to noises coming from the pool, we have never been informed of such a situation. We will therefore have to check with our technical team what it might be, or have been, so that it can be identified and rectified. The bathroom fans can be switched off in the room, but they are programmed to go off at certain times to keep the air circulating. We assure you that all your comments will be taken very seriously and we sincerely hope that you will be able to return to our hotel. Best regards, Silvia Cruz Hotel manager

Traveling solo, in a wheelchair and electric handbike. It wasn't a problem at all thanks to the team of Real Marina Hotel. The team of the hotel is very lovely, always smiling, helping with everything and they made me feel like I was a princess in my huge suite with stunning view! They were also so kind to provide me a special seat in the bathroom. The crew during breakfast and dinner knew, by the second day of my staying in the hotel, already to find always a place for me in the first line of tables, near the breakfast-buffet. I didn't even asked for that but it was so pleasant that they were thoughtful about that. The hotel was also taking care of my wheelchair while I went away for a paratrike experience and welcomed me back afterwards with my wheelchair ready! One thing you have to notice if you are a wheelchair user as well: the hotel corridors and rooms are carpeted, difficult to ride if you are not having someone to push you or when your wheelchair is not electric adapted or if you don't have an electric handbike like me. I am definitely coming back to this hotel!

We were very impressed with our choice of room (225) and hotel. The room was kept clean daily. The room had excellent WiFi, a safe in the wardrobe, a mini fridge which was empty (would be filled if asked for) ideal for chilling drinks and to keeping my medication in. The only thing we had to ask for was a kettle, tea bags and a teapot but this was no problem and in our room with in minutes. There was ample storage for clothes and everything else you take. The staff were fantastic and very helpful, we always made time each day to chat with them. I can not praise them enough. Breakfast consisted of continental and hot food, buffet style so you could have as much or as little as you want. The bar on the first floor offered food and drinks and what I had was very nice. Evening dinging I found a little average (I am a fussy eater). We did not try the gym/inside pool. So can’t comment on this. On our stay the outdoor pool was being renovated, we were told of this when booking, but this did not impact on our stay at the hotel, as our stay was in February. We would like to thank all the staff for making both of us welcome and our stay memorable one. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Ok so to be fair to the hotel I only stayed two nights and two and a half days however in that time I was able to establish some significant flaws with this so-called four star hotel. My colleague had booked 21 nights and a twin bedroom and she had paid for breakfast and half board evening meals for as she understood it both her and another guest. When we arrived at the hotel we were told that we qualified for an evening meal that night and we were in time but I would have to pay an extra 48 euros for my stay and an additional 40 euros for any of the night when I had breakfast and an evening meal. The problems manifest themselves very quickly. Firstly it transpired that we shouldn't really have paid anything more. Secondly the first meal was pretty poor and we had to wait for over an hour for it to be served. It transpired that the chef had gone home and had to be recalled and he wasn't very happy about this. The evening meals were offered to a smattering of individuals and I have to say was no surprise that other other guests were more discerning. When the first meal came we made allowances for the chef being a bit frustrated for having to return. Thirdly although breakfast was very good my colleague didn't feel well enough to make it and we were rather flabbergasted to learn that because of short staff they could not generate room service breakfast until after breakfast was finished at 10:50 a.m. this was made worse when trying to take some fruit up to the room and a coffee for her to have I was told that in no uncertain terms I could not do this just in case there wasn't a third party and I was squirreling these elements away. I was made to feel as though I had conjured my colleague but this was later result when room service turned up at midday to mend the coffee machine and supply us some extra plugs. We were alarmed to see that there was no swimming pool and even more disconcerted to see five Portuguese Workman filling in patches of missing tiles with a tile size of 20 millimeters one by one and not using the 300 millimeters Square tiles that are readily available. As the two days I was there were rather nice we missed the pool and hoped for some compensation but we got short retort. To drown My Sorrows I ordered a vodka Berry drink but I'm afraid I could only taste the berries and no vodka although they promised they'd added it? The real problems began with evening meal number two. The menu promised tempura battered anchovies and very sadly there was no tempura batter to be seen Only very soggy flowery batter around something that was not very edible and so it went back. Next came the fish soup. Now if it had any fish in it I would be very surprised because it really suffered from a lack of anything other than the most minuscule squares of carrot and it tasted as though someone had simply poured a boiling kettle over some very carefully crafted vegetable squares; suffice to say that went back. I was Boyd by the idea of Turkey kebabs grilled vegetables and potatoes but eventually when this came it was cold? I asked for a new dish and I got my old dish back burnt to a crisp. I have to say it was warm however inedible because there was no moisture at all and certainly no accompanying sauce. In the morning we had the same issues with room service although my colleague was able to make it down and enjoy the delights of breakfast. She ate very modestly and had returned a Caesar salad the evening before when I had a disaster with the anchovies the soup and the turkey kebab. I decided this wasn't the hotel for me and while I knew I let my colleague down I felt I had to move on and cast my net further West in the Algarve. I have to say that I've had the most amazing experience in the town of Lagos at Casa May and this hotel is what real Marina should aspire to. I noticed that the we're on average four or five receptionists behind the reception desk and I didn't really know what they did and they certainly couldn't put me in touch with the manager or give me fair resolution on the meals or the lack of room service. The porter lost my bags and couldn't remember where he'd put them and inadvertently I'd left a dress shirt behind that the hotel refused point Blank to send on to my new hotel and expected me to travel 150 kilometers to come back and pick it up when I think the post was going to be about six Euros 50? I've complained of course to the manager Miriam. The problem is that Miriam doesn't really exist or if she does she certainly doesn't return my telephone calls or my emails requesting that she might consider to pay me back for the two meals that were inedible and perhaps out of the kindness of her heart send on my dress shirt now to my address in the UK. However in nearly a week she hasn't been able to return my calls and she's been in meeting non-stop from 8 in the morning to six at night for the last 12 days. It does make the question what an earth is she meeting about could it be the lack of tempura batter the tasteless soup the dry kebabs the fact that there's no room service between 12 midday and about seven o'clock at night the fact that they can't seem to put alcohol into cocktails and the fact that the porter seems to lose the bags or could it be that this hotel is slipping so far down the slope to natural disaster that she's having to balance the books on an hourly basis while plugging the holes of the sinking ship? Couples please take heed don't spend your 200 Euros a night here spend 150 euros a night in a much nicer Hotel with far more friendly staff with far more efficient room service and facility and insist as customers on quality full stop apparently this hotel was meant to be a conference Hotel and boy does it show there was no real customer service no genuine support or friendly help just a general sense of arrogance misinformation and indifference of best. My advice to you run a mile and although the area is lovely and the Old Town charming be more discerning with your spending than my colleague and for goodness sake don't book through booking.com because you'll end up spending 15 to 20% more than you should and how on Earth does that work?

Our second visit to this hotel. This time we went for one of the big suites with a sea view, room 447. Definitely I would advise getting a Ria view room. The rooms at the side/back look into apartments or over the caravan park. The suite has a large main bedroom, sofa bed in the lounge, 2 bathrooms and a balcony that wraps round two sides of the room. Lounge area has coffee machine and empty mini bar fridge, and you can request a kettle from reception. The sofa bed was really uncomfortable and needs a new mattress. The outside swimming pool was being refurbished while we were there this year, but there's an indoor pool and spa as well.

A last minute booking due to an EasyJet holiday mess up & I was so happy that we got to stay here instead of my 1st choice hotel. Ruben on the front desk was extremely helpful, a real asset to the Hotel. Both my Daughter & I received a surprise from the Hotel Management with Fizz & Cake delivered to our respective rooms to mark our Birthdays. Thank you for this lovely surprise. Breakfast in the hotel was excellent, a great selection and first class attendance from the Team in the restaurant. Gym & Pool were a great feature on a rainy day and despite being quite busy due the the inclement weather, it never felt crowded, there was enough equipment for everyone. I'd definitely stay here again.

Clean, comfortable and spacious. Friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast. Couldn't ask for more. Hotel might want to know the taxi they called for us for airport run charged almost double quoted rate stating 'luggage' (one 10kg case) and 'it's Saturday' as the reason. Not hotel's fault.

Could be a top class hotel, reception staff very helpful and friendly, watch out for the little extras that they don’t tell you about, like the 3 euro each for a hat to use the indoor pool. As the outdoor pool was closed and empty. Spa staff was miserable and not very helpful. Lockers didn’t work with stupid digital locks. Breakfast and staff in the breakfast restaurant was really good. Carpets in hall ways where stained and on cream carpets stood out like it was really dirty, the floor light coming away and the wall light worked intermittently so corridors at night where quite dark. The rooms was lovely but trying to operate the tv and the options need a pc degree lol
